You don't mention where you are located, but summer is far more of an issue in most cases than winter.
In winter in all but the SE, the humidity is low and the temp low. No rust.
Fast forward to spring and summer where there are
wide temp swings and a/c inside and hot and humid outside and thus you have condensation. Condenstaion loves heat/cold friction and humidity. No humidity, then it's just hot vs. a/c . Tools far less likely to see corrosion.
salt air and oceans add another factor too.
It's far from black and white.
And BTW, dessicant always helps. But not if 95% humidity persists.
