I've seen threads on how to remove it but I didn't see anything on how to prevent it. Any thoughts on what to do when your tools are kept in your toolbox, locked, but outside in the garage which is not heated? Condensation builds up during the winter months and during rainy season just from the humidity in the air. Any ideas?

Does Gold Bond powder work to keep tools dry and rust free?

Yes, yes it does. The menthol makes your tools a bit cooler, which in turn tightens their tolerances and thus gives less chance of slippage. Or something. I dunno... I'm making this up.....

Keep them well oiled. Heat a small area in the garage ( a small tool room?). Use them more often. Heat your tool Box (Put a light bulb in a area that will cause a fire) As we all know hot vs. cold condenses humidity/rust.

I have been using loc-tite rust preventer, seems to work well although I cant seem to be able to find anymore at the store and I'm almost out. Also, any gun store will have a **** load of different cosmoline based products that will prevent rust. There are guns stored in bunkers in the former ussr for over 70 years that come out of thier crates without a spot of rust on them because of the cosmoline they were stored in.
