Rusted Rotary 10k 4-Post $500 - Worth it?

I'd like to have that old blue chevy parked next to the school bus. Might be a GMC model though since the hood looks post 62 & the grill/headlights look 60-61.

That lift would fit nicely in the shop out on the farm.

Seeing as it has footers poured for it, it's seems this thing has been outside for it's entire life.

Too bad to a nice lift like this got neglected. The steel is thick and may just need a blast and paint. But it looks like he didn't keep the motor covered so that's a concern. I would wonder about the lift cables also, surely they would have oxidation/corrosion by now. Is that a hydro scissor jack? I wonder if that is worth giving him a hundred bucks for and restoring to use on a different new/used rotary if you got one?

Being Texas, I would think that its only surface rust. I'd also say that for $500 its a pretty darned good deal for an alignment rack. I can't tell from the photos whether there are turn tables up front. The rolling air jack alone is worth more than the $500 if it works. We have lifts up here in some shops that look worst off than that thinks to melting snow/ salt mix.

Looks like a car was on there recently, you see dust tracks on the ramps.

I would go see it before saying it's not good. Aren't bridges made of steel? and they they have rust. But I would definately be suspicious and always use the mechanical safety locks.

ours that we lift up box trucks and buses is in 100% worse condition... we've rewelded trolley rails on it twice.

You should've seen the one at our dealer. The rolling jacks would hardly move. Almost all the paint was gone and we still worked underneath it doing alignments and whatever else.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Disassemble, clean sanblast and powdercoat(local powdercoater has a 24+ft oven), maybe new cables etc and use it. It's a Rotary, the one that all others are measured by, and probably $3500+ to replace.
Get on it before it's gone.

if you call that "rusted" you really need to familiarize yourself with what that term actually means. It does NOT mean "the paint just wore off".

Well, I just used the term rusted to state that it had been stored outside. The biggest thing that worried me about the lift was the possible damage to various components (such as cables, pumps, motors and lines) after being stored outside for so long. Looks like the ad has been deleted now so someone has been

I'd buy that. Hell I'd knock a wall down if I had to, for a $500 Rotary. Not that I'd have to knock a wall down, but theoretically if my garage weren't oversized, I'd absolutely knock down the center wall for that lift.
