Hey all, I just got done putting down what i thought was all i needed to do my 24'x24' garage floor. It is a brand new garage, and the concrete guy didnt smooth out the floor very well. I put down 2 of the homedepot kits thinking it would be enough, well floor is still pretty rough and there are quite a few thin spots. I want to put another coat down, should i just buy 3-4 more kits and put those down, or can i try the professional? I'm not looking for show quality or anything but i want it to be covered well and much smoother. Any suggestions on how to finish this floor up? Thanks

If you used the water based kits you may want to check if you can use the solvent based over that, I'm sure people here will know.

2 coats of the professional kits covered my floor well though not perfect. My floor was pretty smooth after I grinded it though.

I think if you use the professional kit, they want you to apply it to bare concrete. Call Rust Oleum customer service and ask. They were able to answer all of my questions before and after I applied the professional kit and clear coating to my floor last fall.

I ended up calling them this afternoon and they said it is ok to use the pro as a second coat over the water based version. It just had to be done within a 48 hour window. Looks like i am going to hit up some home depots to get some more kits, will just use water based kit. Thanks for the tips.

You will find the second coat of Rustoleum will look MUCH better. The first coat more or less is a primer.....

I didnt put any non-slip addictive in, and the floor is still pretty rough. I dont think they did a very good job building this garage but i did want it done as cheap as possible. I asked about the floor and he asked if i wanted him to come back out and smooth floor, but i made the mistake of telling him i was putting down epoxy paint and he said it wouldnt mater than.

I do like the floor though, it isnt slippery and i can still roll things around fairly easy. But i can see something needing to be put in with it if floor was glass smooth
