I used two coats of color in Tile Red under one coat of clear. I figured that if I was taking the time and spending the money to do my garage, another day and an extra $70 wasn't going to hurt anything.
I like the floor with one exception. The clear scratches if something abrasive gets slid across it causing white lines over the red surface. I've started laying loose vinyl tiles under saw horses, jack stands, my attic ladder, etc. if I am setting them up on the floor. At 66 cents each - they're disposable if they break.
One thing I learned - don't use blue painters tape to mask along edges. The epoxy soaks through the tape and bonds it to the concrete - extremely well. I've heard (since I finished my floor) that duct tape works a lot better. Between moving into the house after doing the floor, getting married, the holidays, and life in general, the tape is still there almost 8 months later. I'm going to try using a wire wheel in my angle grinder this weekend to remove it. We'll see how it works.
Another piece of advice: buy a 18" paint roller, epoxy safe roller covers, and tray. The project will go a lot easier if you don't have to keep worrying about the open pot life of the product which is only about an hour with the clear. Using the 18" set up, my two car garage took 45 minutes for the clear coat. I used 9" rollers for the color coats and decided there was no way I would beat the set up time of the clear.
Between having my truck on construction sites for work and driving on salted roads in winter, there is always mud, sand, road salt, etc. on my floor. Cleans up very easily. Mopping and rinsing the floor is another project for this weekend.
