Rustoleum Basement vs Garage

I found a deal I couldn't pass up on Rustoleum epoxy, the main problem is that I was so excited at the deal I didn't realize I was buying the "Basement" version.

The technical specs PDF on the site seems to be broken so I can't figure out what the difference is.

Anyone had any experience with this stuff? What's the difference? Will it work the same?

As a follow up to my own question, I called them today and they stated that the formulas are different and I will need the garage product. I'm not sure whether this is the truth or just the scripted response, but I'm not sure I'm going to gamble.

The only difference I could think of is the UV proection / durability of the paint. Exposed to UV light the paint might fade faster then the garage version. At least this is the big difference I have seen between indoor and outdoor epoxy concrete paints. I would suspect the same here. Are there any notes as to this on the package?

They publish technical specs on the products on their site, but I can't get them to load for some reason.

I used their industrial garage epoxy in my basement (utility and storage rooms) and later did my garage with UCoatIt's product. There is no comparison between the quality of the products. I wouldn't steer anyone towards the Rustoleum.

WHy? Waht are the problems with Rustoleum? Cost vs Ucoatit?

It just doesn't hold up well in traffic areas. My basement is a dry basement. Like anyone else would tell you I put it on according to the manufacturers instructions. My garage epoxy gets tons more traffic and cleans up to look like new, the Rustoleum does not.

Im looking for something simple and cheap for my relatively low traffic basement. I was going to get some "basement" version, but I see the "garage" is the same price. I wonder if it holds up better? I do see that the basement is "gray satin" and the garage is "gloss gray". Both are water based 2-part epoxies. I wonder what else is different.

The biggest difference in the garage is hot tire pickup issues. The basement kit wouldn't stand a chance. In fact, the garage kit probably doesn't either because the Rustoleum kits just don't contain the quality. I would avoid both.

I called Rustoleum today and they confirmed that they are both 2-part water based epoxies, but the garage version has more solids and is much more durable. The only con to it is that it has about a 3hr pot life vs a 15hr pot life for the basement stuff. The sheen is also different, basement is satin and the garage is more glossy. Same price at 500sqft coverage.

Yeh, I wouldn't use this stuff for a garage, but for my basement I think this garage epoxy paint will be fine.
