Rustoleum clear coat question.

I just got through putting down Rustoleum Epoxy Shield in my garage this Sunday morning. I spoke to the Rustoleum tech support people and I was told that on the epoxy I used I could apply a clear coat anytime after 24hrs, so I plan on applying it here soon within the next couple days. I am undecided on wether I should do one or two coats of the clear and wether or not to use the anti skid granes that come with the kit. I applied two coats of the epoxy, one Saturday morning than another coat on Sunday along with the chips.

Should I do one or tow coats of clear?
Has anyone applied the clear coat without the antiskid, would you say I should use them or not?

Thanks for all the help as this website and all of you who post here are a great help to all of us rookies trying to save a buck by doing it ourselves!

If it's in your budget then do two. It just adds to the thickness and longevity of the floor. Be sure to check with the manufacturer about the recoat window, if any. You may need to lightly sand the first clearcoat to accept the second.

Here is a picture of a five year old single coat big box epoxy floor with no clearcoat. It was taken at 9AM, the second photo is our completed floor at 3PM.

We generally don't add anti slip unless it's a sloped driveway as all our garages are full chip which gives a little bit of traction.

What do you mean by 5 year old? Is the floor in the picture after 5 years of use or did you just do this 5 years ago or is the concrete 5 years old before doing the covering?

Wow, that floor sure dried out fast for you to go start to finish in 6 hours. I thought I've read to allow up to 4-5 days after cleaning/rinsing.

The previous homeowner installed the epoxy 5 years ago.

I used the Quikcrete products (color and topcoat clear) with a medium flake cast in the color coat. I was surprised that the small package of "grit" went a long way. It gave a feel in the top coat similar to 100 -120 grit sandpaper.

MAKE SURE you get more then think you need, the Rustoleum clear says it covers 500sqft but i only got about half of that. leaving me a 3X5 patch undone which required another coat anyways.
