Rustoleum Epoxyshield - Minimum time til I can apply second coat?

Hello, I am currently in the process of prepping the concrete. I have done the acid etch and I'm just waiting for the garage to dry. I'm thinking about just letting it dry until next weekend and apply 2 coats of the water based rustoleum.

My question is, how long is the minimum I can wait to apply the second coat?

Also is waiting only 24 hours okay for drying the concrete or would I be better off waiting?

I would wait more than a day to let it dry. The can lists your recoat window. If you don't do it within x time, you have to wait a few weeks, if I remember correctly. I washed it one weekend, then let it sit until next weekend, but I also spent 13 hours washing my floor.

blah blah blah, been on my floor for 5 years of welding/plasma cutting/torching/grinding, still fine. Again, prep is the key. Oh, and I used acid, after 6 gallons of purple power, two boxes of tri-sodium phosphate, and it was on a 55 year old concrete slab covered with an inch of dirt and oil.

Yeah I stated water based right in the opening post, I read a lot of posts on everyone's experience with the products, my product states that I have to re-apply second coat within 24 hours I believe. I just read another board where a guy applied his second coat after 6 hours I might shoot for that.

Thanks for your help, I'd probably take back the water based however I used the acid etch already, if the acid etch comes in the professional I might buy 2 professionals then take an acid etch from the one and put it in the other box and return, we'll see.

Once you mix the 2-parts of waterbased Rustoleum epoxy shield together, after about about 2-3 hours it is no good, so you have to paint fast and cant come back and do a second coat the next day unless you start all over with a new kit. If you try to paint with it after that there is no sheen left to it. Completely flat.

Hey Dude...

I'm not going to spend any time at all to say anything about your choice of products. Obviously... it's all been said about a million times here.

However, I AM going to say what I've said maybe only a hundred times. The people to ask are not in this forums... ASK THE MANUFACTURER of the exact product you intend to use. When you have a failure, what are you going to do when some yahoo in here gives you an answer that doesn't work? Do you think Rustoleum is going to say... Oh, we'll help you out since some Joe Blow that you don't know on the Garage Journal told you something wrong. There are some really good guys on these forums BUT there are also some guys that state wrong opinions as absolute fact. I saw some of that tongiht... maybe even in this thread... it's getting late...

Get Smart... Get answers that you can rely on from the manufacturer of the actual product that you are going to use! This is the single best advice that anyone can give you.
