Just ordered this kit for giggles. Has anyone had experience with the product ? What did you use it for ?

I did a search on the topic but the last post was from a year ago.

Goes on like a thin coat of silicone, my son did his gym shoes they lasted about a month then started peeling. It did keep the water off as advertised. Of course gym shoes bend a lot and go through some abuse on a kid. It was also a little foggy I would not recommend doing windows with it.

I bought some for my dad for Christmas when he bought brand new boots. He applied it and I actually just asked him yesterday how it was doing and he said no worse for wear. Still waterproof.

I have no first-hand experience but I did hear that when applied it slightly darkened fabrics. I haven't seen that myself, but I have a few friends who use it on work boots for working in mud on job sites and they told me that.

I use similar coatings at work in an industrial setting. Couple of things to note:

1) the performance of the coating is HIGHLY dependent on how you lay it down. You have to be careful about putting down THIN layers or it won't work.

2) it's not UV safe, meaning anything that gets sun exposure will degrade quickly. I'd be the poster above talking about gym shoes saw the coating degrade because of walking around in the sun as much as from being laid down on a flexible substrate.

or you could just grease on all your stuff.
