[venting...]

I must be retarded. All I wanted to do was find a local vendor who carries the product so I can get my garager done. I got to Rustoleum's website, looked at the list of vendors under "local retailer" and called about 20 of them. I even called 15 more out of state! None of them carried the product (the solvent-based "professional" stuff). All of them could order it, but no one had any stock. Some of them were so stupid that they couldn't determine that the "Premium" product was different than the "Professional" product (the premium product is the clear coat, and the professional product is the one that doesn't seem to exist).

Anyway, I had enough with dealing with a company can't get their products on store shelves... so I called Epoxy Coat. 5 minutes later, it's on order, and should have shipped today.

I must be stupid for wanting to support the local stores.

What isolated part of the US are you in that doesn't have a Lowes, Home Depot or Menards?

I'd love to move there so I could deal with real hardware stores, lumber yards and other similar businesses instead of the big boxes.

I bought the Professional and Premium as a stock item at my local Menards last year.

It's weird... it seems as though the pro and premium stuff has dried up around here. For some reason, the home stores near me that used to carry it, don't carry it any longer. Go figure. I wonder they've had problems? Don't know.

It might have to do with air quality initiatives. California started the trend towards all of the low/no VOC products - the east coast especially NY / NJ and MA are following behind closely.

The day is coming very quickly that a homeowner won't be able to buy oil based paint in CA and parts of the east coast for that reason.

I reckon it is so isolated it doesn't have a name. Either that or the name of the place is a secret. No wonder Rustoleum doesn't service that area since Hatchy lives in an unknown place.

NY has already screwed the poock. Our last beilliant Govenator George Paytakee done issued a bunch of excrement orders to make us all much safer.
We can only buy portable gas cans you can't pour gas out of.
We can only buy oil based paint in containers smaller than 2 quart. As of a couple months ago, all merchants had to purge their inventory of any oil based paint in containers larger than 2 quarts or pay to dispose of the paint on 1 September as HazMat, and provide the State with associated paperwork. A lot of paint disappeared overnight.

There are probably about a dozen other orders that exist to protect me too.

If I want to paint my barn or house ever again, I'll have to make a road trip.
I can't even afford porch & deck paint for trailer beds any more, it used to be about 5 bucks a gallon, and the new environmentally safe (wash off with a garden hose) **** is $20- a gallon.

Gosh officer, nobody told me paint was illegal, I just whipped up a batch of homemade in the back yard.

I live in the SF Bay Area in California, not exactly the most isolated place in the us. I even crossed the state line into Nevada, still no luck. Everyone had the wasted based stuff, no one had the solvent based product. Rustoleum lists ICI Paints as someone who carries their product, and they don't, at all.
