Rusty Craftsman ratchet

I got another rusty craftsman ratchet. It is 1/2 inch but it was apparently designed without a reverse switch at the top of the handle but rather has a reverse switch it the “normal “ spot for round head ratchets of other brands. It’s not in great condition, but it’s the only one I ever remember seeing with this style.
It’s hard to read but on one side of the handle it has the craftsman logo, the reverse side has: forged in USA -V- 44978 pats. 3467231 and 3532013 CAN patented 1971.
Has anyone else seen this in better shape. Very interesting piece, I guess craftsman could have gone different direction.
Thanks again

That's one of Craftsman's few highly regarded ratchets, referred to here generally as the RHFT (round head fine tooth.)

They are pretty common - your example is in unusually bad shape.

Here's a set on ebay. The flex head versions sell for high prices.

I just snagged a 1/4"er with all the patent info stamped on the handle.

Nice. The fact that they are not rare makes me happy. I will clean the one I have and be happy when I get my next one.

Thanks again,
