Time for refreshing the ‘11 Subaru Outback suspension. Front & rear struts, front LCAs and end links. Rusty fasteners and parts made a routine job somewhat difficult but cutting the end links off, hammering the LCA, new suspension bolts and a generous application of anti-seize got the job done. Can’t decide whether hammering the BJ out or removing the “pinch bolt” securing the BJ or removing the big 14 x 128 bolt rusted solid in the bushing was the worst part of the job as they were all bad ;)D53E3685-3D75-4EE7-9159-D6C108FD2A61.jpeg0D13DA19-4616-4339-94C2-3B7E62678D3D.jpeg737D7A3B-BCD8-49BC-983C-06E5BE67B216.jpegD2A780C0-DEE2-4248-85F4-52B6FAC86BC6.jpeg9CB9DA71-ECD9-46C7-86E8-BFA41ACD046E.jpeg

Probably going to get a nasty letter from the HOA…. ;) The landscaping is providing some coverage as they rust back down into the earth 😂 BD38A571-9200-4839-8F5B-B4C137FC017F.jpeg

****, you could SELL those control arms up here as replacements! :ROFLMAO:
This is the truth. Those control arm could be described as rust free.

I replaced U bolts on my pickup a few years ago because two had rusted all the way through.

You're not telling me anything that I haven't been through before!
I completely rebuilt the entire underside of my '79 Vette.....I had EVERYTHING out from under the frame, and moved the "carcus"
around on 2x10's w/ LARGE casters. FORTUNATELY I utilized my 3.5' w x 6' deep x 21' long cemented in PIT to help
accomplish all that!! I did all that during early to mid 2015 shortly after I bought it. I either powder coated, or used POR-15 on
ALL parts as much as possible....and there's NO rust to this day in any of those places!! I didn't save the "in-process" pics, as I
got depressed after lookin' at 'em a few times!!;)

Invest in a heat inductor. Great for rusty bolts and fasteners and no burning rubber.

I never realized how good I have it here in Phoenix until I watched my nephew replacing front suspension parts back home in Iowa this past summer.

around here, you can see the joy in a mechanics eyes when he gets to do an alignment on a 10 year car that has never seen winters or salt. When I had my Miata, the guy was actually singing "I love working on theses cars" and when i asked him if it was Miata in general and he said no just anything that has not seen winter/salt
