RV Outlet Install - Wiring Question

Ordered a 30amp RV outlet/box I want to install on our garage. Installing the RC outlet primarily to keep refrigerators going and on occasion run one a/c unit if we need to cool the rig down. The cord from the rig to the outlet is 50amp and I'll be using a 30/50 adapter to the outlet. The RV cord will be about 30' in length.

From the Circuit Breaker to where the outlet will be I guesstimate will be a 30' to 40' run of wire. Would 10/2 wiring be sufficient for this run?

I wouldn't recommend running the RV refrigerator full time unless it's full of food. I did that year before last and the freezer froze up without me realizing it. Found out while we were camping because the fridge and freezer wouldn't stay cold. Came home, defrosted the freezer, and everything has run fine since. We just leave the RV off until a few days before we leave out. Then I plug it in so the battery can top off and the fridge can cool off before we fill it.

They'll both be full of food. Well, one is full of beer. ;) Thing actually has three fridges but only two will be used fulltime.

Will your fridge run in low temperatures?……… Some refrigerants don’t like temps below 32*F.

BTW! #10 wire should be OK to use but I think you may need a 10-4 cord (outlet to RV) and a 10-3 Romex feeding the receptacle box…….. Two hots, neutral, ground.

Mine has 2 as well. The 'beer fridge' stays full of water and gatorade. Beer gets added/removed when we're not camping, so we let that fridge warm up too when not using it.

Sadly, our little camper is only a 30A. We learned the first weekend using it that if all the 120v stuff is running in the camper at the same time, it goes over 30A and trips the breaker, so we run a separate 120v line from the pedestal under the camper to run the outside beer fridge.

30A RV is 120v so 10-2 is right.

Alternatively I have installed 14-50r for a 50A RV and used 10-3 on a 30A breaker.
But the OPs rig has a 50a cord/plug. So he probably wants power to both sides of the RV panel.

So is the OP installing a TT-30 or 14-30?

Likely TT-30. He said he is using a 50/30 adapter.

Depending on how the adapter is wired, half of the RV circuits could be dead OR the 2 legs would have to share the 30A provided, ASSUMING the OP is installing a 30A breaker in his house load center.

Dedicated 30amp breaker just for this.
