RV receptical

Hi Fellas
Could someone tell me the correct way to install a RV receptiacl on the out side of my new garage? I park my camper along one side. I would like the plug in to be flush with the cider siding. I tried first to cut a hole just small enough for the plug to fit in the wall but plug isn't long enough to go all the wal through the wall. I then tried to put a box over the plug and hole. I'm afraid water could seep in and cause a short in the plug and start a fire in the wall. should I cut a hole large enough for the whole box since I all reddy have a hole about the size of a silver dollar through the wall or should I patch the hole and jut mount the box on the outside. I know I sound dumber than a bag of rocks but I have never done this before so please have some patience with me.

If done properly, you'll install an outdoor rated box into the wall and seal it properly with silicone. If the cord through the wall isn't long enough, then buy some wire and connect it that way. Running the wires through conduit between the outdoor and indoor box will ensure it's watertight.

Used one of these mounted to the stucco garage sidewall. Got it at Home Depot. Used a 90-degree sweep for the conduit between box and subpanel.

I use the same box as above only mine is 30 amp. I picked it up at the Depot for about $20 if I remember right.

I used a standard box with an outdoor rated weather proof cover. No issues and passed electrical inspection.

They do make recessed boxes for 120vac receptacles, like this:

However, I haven't looked for recessed boxes big enough to hold an RV receptacle but they may make them. If they do, they may be difficult to use since the plug is big and there's not a lot of room to get your hand around it.
