Ryobi 1600 pressure washer gfci tripping

Pressure washer has a built in 2 prong gfci plug. When I plug my power cord into the outlet the gfci on the plug instantly trips. When I press the reset button it instantly trips again. I tried it on several different outlets. The power button on the pressure washer itself is in the off position.
Worked fine few months ago.
I don’t have any kind of tester. Does this sound like I need to replace the gfci plug on the power cord?

Moving to a different receptacle makes no difference because the GFCI protection is on the load side of the plug. It doesnt care whats going on upstream of the plug.

GFCIs do go bad. If the switch on the pressure washer is off, then its probably bad. I would buy a replacement cord

You probably have to replace the whole cord, the GFCI is molded and I've never seen one that could be replaced. There are several out there, I just picked the first that came up when I googled replacement cord with built in gfci protection

Found a replacement gfci plug on Amazon for $16. I guess I’ll give it a try.
Wanted to see if it was more than likely just the plug that needs replacement since I don’t have any way to actually test the plug.

First thing I would do is unhook the cord from the PW, tape up the ends & plug it in to see if it still trips

Eliminate the leakage between the hot lead and the ground. Your GFCI Is finding a difference between the current passing through the hot lead and the neutral; it is programmed to assume that that difference might be flowing through your body and shutting the circuit off so you can keep following this forum.

You'd be better off cutting the end off the cord and installing a non GFCI cord end and plugging it into a GFCI receptacle than using that thing.

take it out and clean the inside... I did that to the small LG windows AC and it have worked fine... but it is tricky though. small parts like puzzles.

I'd cut the damn thing off the pressure washer, put an $8 plug on it and only plug into a GFCI outlet.

But I like to live life on the edge.

Was it plugged into GFCI on the house?

Cut it off, put a new plug on and just use house side GFCI in the future.

Yes, all the exterior outlets at my house are GFCI.

There could be leakage between the sections of the power circuit; the GFCI, located near the plug and the main power switch located on the pressure washer. those two points are separated by the length of the power cable.
