Ryobi 18V dual active port mower VS 40V

I have decided I am going to purchase a battery mower. I did not want to take over the other thread discussing if battery mowers are a good idea.

I have around 700SF of grass and am tired of messing with my gas mower. I am heavily invested in Milwaukee tools and batteries, but cannot see paying $900 to mow 700SF.

The two options I am looking at is the Ryobi 40V mower and the Ryobi Dual active port 18V model. I am trying to think ahead of needing to replace batteries, so I would prefer the dual 18V model if it is of similar power to the single 40V.

Does anyone have any input on if they are similar in performance, or is the 40V way better? The dual 18V model is the one that uses two active ports.

For a mower or other lawn equipment, it's been my experience that the higher the voltage, the better it's going to perform. 36v vs 40v? If that's the actual voltage,I would expect 40v to perform better. Ymmv. What's the actual working voltage of the battery packs?

That's a good point. Manufacturers tend to use 18V and 20V interchangeably. Dunno about 40V.

I borrowed my neighbors single port ryobi to check it out. I would not recommend that for even a small city yard.

I know you're interested in Ryobi, but you might want to check out Ego- OPE is what they do, and they do it really well. I don't have an Ego mower, but I love my blower and trimmer. I do have a Ryobi cordless hedge trimmer, and it works fine for using it once or twice a year. But if I wanted a mower, I'd definitely go with Ego. $400 for a mower and 6AH battery is a good deal compared to the competition.

Just funny get a mower with speed IQ. I love everything else about them though. (Pretty sure they discontinued that worthless feature now)
