Anyone try the edger yet? Mixed reviews everywhere. I bought the anemic pressure pressure washer and have a couple of the bigger batteries already.
Here’s my situation. Bad back. I’ve got a Troy gas edger I’ve been using a few years now. New home and now I have 4X the edging on lawn day. Holding up the motor really takes a toll on my back to the point of not sleeping well on days I use it.

Thought about one of the bigger gas push edgers with a Briggs style motor. Problem here, back yard sidewalk is kind of a steep hill. Those style edgers are 70 lbs. Yea, not pushing that up hill, or even worse controlling it down hill to let it get away from me and wind up in the lake.

The Ryobi seems to fit the bill, just as long as I maintain the edge cut on a regular basis.

I have had the 18v string trimmer for about 3 years now the thing runs a good 40 minutes on a charge and aside from the auto feed each time you hit the trigger I have nothing bad to say about it. I get this isnt a 1 to 1 comparison but just my experience with the ryobi

I don’t have the edger you’re looking at, but have been edging with a Ryobi 18V string trimmer turned vertical for the last 8+ years. I use the same battery to edge, trim, and blow the concrete clean. It sounds like you have a larger yard, so it may take a full battery to edge.

I’m happy with the tool overall using the 4ah lithium battery. It doesn’t have the raw power of a 2 stroke (I service and use a dozen Stihl FS91Rs at work for reference). However, mine only struggles edging if I‘ve skipped edging for a month or two. The job still gets done, just slower. I’d imagine a dedicated edger to stay more productive than my one-string string trimmer used as an edger.

Well, for $87 shipped to my house by this Friday, I went ahead and ordered it. Figured I've wasted more money on other useless ****, this one might turn out to be a win.
I'm mostly a Milwaukee guy, but I tried out the hand held Ryobi PW a few months back and invested in a larger spare battery. I guess I need to put these things to work.

I have been using the edger for 2 years now and have been very pleased with it. Single 4ah battery does the yard with no issues. Need to put a new blade on it now, it has worn down some from use. Gets used weekly during growth season.

Ok, this thing is the ticket! Extremely light weight. Almost too light. I did half my sidewalk with a Scotch in the other hand. It will get away from you using it one handed and run into the grass. But running it one handed I don’t have to bend over stressing my back. I think I can easily make a guide to go behind the back wheel. But the yard still needed mowing and it zipped through it no problem with my 4 amp battery. This one is a win!
