Ryobi Battery packs

Home depot was offering there "special buy" at black friday or around Christmas It was there 2- 4AH batteries for $99.

Today i purchased the 2 pack of 4Ah batteries for $50.00 they normally retail for $99ea. No idea if this was only my store it was the Home depot at the Galleria Birmingham Al. They had several other units i purchased 2 packs

They've been advertised in my HD for $75.00 for the last several weeks. Not a clearance price. It had a Ryobi product sign on it.

I didn't look at a the price when I was in yesterday. I guess that I will tomorrow.

Got the last one at my local HD today. And they have the same batt. $99 for a single a few feet away... I don't understand it. I found the 50 buck ones since I was looking specifically, but they were not obvious. Not in the clearance endcap this time.

Mine were in the aisle with the cordless tools in a big box marked 2 for $75.00. They were on one side of the aisle.

30 feet away was the "regular" battery display. They had the single for $99.00.

At the front of the store (next to one of the doors) was the BIG display. They had the singles for $99.00.

This was nowhere near the clearance stuff.

Bought a few packs last week for plenty of 4 Ah power/endurance this summer. These will work great for the high-drain yard equipment (blower/trimmer) and power tools (saws) if I pick up the 7-1/4 18V miter saw. Never had good experience with Ryobi Li compacts which will be recycled / repurposed for a battery project.

Thanks OP. Took back the (unopened) pack I bought for $89 in Dec for a refund.

Then I turned around and bought a two pack at the $50.04 price. With a HF 20% off coupon, it was $40.03 before CA took it's bite. Two brand new 4Ah lithium batteries for 20 bucks a pop. Such a deal - 80% off!

Just picked up 2 twin packs in North Myrtle Beach SC and used a Lowe's 10% off on top too. They were on the top shelf above regular Ryobi batteries. It took a 4' t-square for me to get them down though. Ha

My friend talked to the tool area manager he picked a few up last night Home Depot went crazy with filling stores with inventory with this special purchase. They were only supposed to get 90 of them the store got 700!!

I just got back from the local HD. Of course they had ZERO in stock. They called around to the other stores and were told that the only store in Oklahoma that had any was Lawton.

So if we have any GJ people in Lawton, OK..... ....shoot me a PM and we'll work out a deal.

Man, I'm bummed out here. I went into my HD yesterday and they said they had the two packs down to as low as $40 each and I just missed them all being sold. If anyone has a spare set of packs or two they would like to share to a fellow GJer and Ryobi fan, please send me a PM! I'd gladly pay the $50 plus shipping as that is still a great deal.

Only good thing is I did find some old blue style Ryobi 2 speed hammer drills on clearance for $18 each. That is some consolation at least as I picked up one of those. - Paul

This site is awesome! I saw this link, so I decided to stop into the home depot by my work (Urbandale, IA), and they had 3 of these. I picked one up.

they were off to a side away from the other batteries. I assume most people would just go to the normal battery section for these, and pick up the smaller batteries for $99. these are the BIG ones for $50.04!

I stopped by one HD and they were sold out of the 2 for $50.04 but they had the 2 for $75 and 1 for $99. I had to go to the "lucky" Powerball Lotto store and buy some tickets, then stopped by another HD. They had three boxes of the 2 for $50.04 batteries. I got a 10% veteran's discount so the twin pack batteries cost me $45.03 + sales tax.

I stopped by one HD yesterday and they didn't have any 2 packs of the large batteries at any price. I thought maybe they had some up on a shelf, but it turned out someone had put the compact 2 packs in a box for the larger 2 packs. The guy helping me seemed to know about the $50 two packs.

I might try another one I drive by every day, but the website doesn't show any store in the area having the 2 packs of the large batteries in stock.

I picked up 2 this morning, almost wonder if I should have got a third.

Looks like the entire SE Louisiana may be cleaned out from the inventory check I had the customer service rep do for me.

The 2 Lafayette, La stores were well stocked though. One had 50~ the other had around 350!!!!


The store I went in today had a TON of black Friday stuff left over, but these were the only thing on clearance.

Such a true statement for the battery hoarders. I got a 4 Ah lithium pack before they vanished. If I get 5 years out of a Ryobi lithium I would be happy. IME Ryobi NiCad = 6 mon-1yr and bigger Ryobi lithium 2.3 Ah = 2-3 yr and awful Ryobi compact lithium = DOA.
Hopefully the Ryobi 4 Ah lithium batteries being clearanced out use better battery cells. Somewhat suspicious since the $50 price for two Ryobi lithium 4 Ah is currently cheaper than one Ryobi lithium 4 Ah and cheaper than the price of two Ryobi old style NiCad

FyI: Six Bosch 10.8-12V still holding charge since 2006

AFAIK the 4ah packs from ridgid ryobi and possibly Milwaukee all use fairly high quality cells. The older 1.5 and 3.0 ah packs did not and the reviews reflect that.

These 4 Amp Hour One + Lithium + are super great. Best cells ever. AND, these are the VERY SAME guts (batteries) as what you will find in the 18/20v Ridgid and Milwaukee and Craftsman battery packs. You can't buy these battery cells inside for what these are going on clearance (about $25 each pack). You could buy these, pull out the lithium cells, and resolder into your Ridgid/Craftsman/Milwaukee packs and save a ton. BUT that is dangersous to do with lithium (spot welding is best with lithium cells), so you must know what you are doing to do that. I've done it and repacked lithiuim packs. These are for my Ryobi tools, but thought I'd add that info for others.

Also, Ryobi for some years had BAD CHARGERS that ruined the lithium packs! The newer black slow charge chargers are the best for charging! Newer yellow fast chargers are second best. I had old "dead" lithium packs that suddenly came back to life at full normal charge after sitting a full year with the new charger vs old. New Ryobi 4 amp hour is competitive with any battery technology from ANY company. - Paul

The first thing that I did was register it with Ryobi. I forget whether it's a two or three year warranty.

Landed two packs across to HDs tonight. Last stock at both.

End of the ****** NiCad batteries which I would pull off in a pinch only to hear the tool slow to a stop on First use.

Do you have a model number on that charger?

It would be nice to get a charger that might be able to breathe life back into my compact battery pack (my 4Ah works just fine)

Hi, I like the P118 black one but the yellow P117 should be ok too. I would not even use an older P number than these. One of the older yellow ones is on a recall. If you have that send it in for replacement. The older ones messed up the batteries. Some can recover sometimes in the newer chargers. Worth a try. There are also other ways to get a dead lithium pack working again if the cells are still good, but a bit tricky to do. - Paul
