Ryobi cordless chainsaw

When the reviews state it leaks the bar oil, believe them. I should have gotten the Dewalt or Milwaukee but didn’t know if I could run my Ridgid batteries with them.

They all leak oil. The milwaukee grass is not greener. Actually what I did was fabricate a chainsaw holder which is basically a towel rack but with one end open and I can slide my two saws onto it tail-up. They leak almost nothing when stored vertical.

That said there is something wrong with your saw. Probably a pinched seal. Take it apart and debug or take it back. That is nowhere near a normal amount of bar oil. Saw is cute as a button though.

That's how I store my cordless chainsaw and pole saw (which is still really just a small chainsaw with a long handle). Pointed up, they don't leak at all.

Neither of my Stihl saws leak but both Echo saws do as well my Remington polesaw. Not sure about the Toro polesaw that one has been pointed bar up since I got it.
And yes there is something wrong with yours, that is a lot of oil. There is way too much oil on the bar and chain.
Are you using proper bar oil? And is it an automatic oiler or manual?

Bought one for my wife because she wanted one. Biggest pos ever. If you sharpen the chain to actually cut it will not pull the chain through much more than a twig. Milwaukee on the other hand is a hoss.

I got the Ryobi brushless 12" and it is a great tool to be able to bring out and use for a quick cut and then put away.

My Echo does not leak but I store it horizontally. The saw is a manual oiler and I have used nothing but bar oil in it.

Mine cuts quite well. This weekend i used it to cut an 8” hickory in my backyard. It started my firewood collection, but might not even be one nights worth. Then I got a call to help a neighbor. It was supposed to be a small black cherry but turned out to be about 16” diameter. I would have brought the larger saw had I known, but the little one powered right through it. Thankfully it was only about 9 feet long and 5 cuts.

Yes...that sucker leaks. I got one from one of those big bundles that Ryobi sells. All the other tools are fine...the chainsaw is fine for limbs that you cannot break by hand. However, that thing leaks and I store it in a bucket.

Like mine. I put it into a big Rubbermaid tote. May move to a bucket to save space. Or try the vertical thing.

It leaks like an excited puppy.

I bought the latest and greatest version of Ryobi's saw sometime last year. Leaks not a drop.

Yes it's chronic. Everyting leaks out if they sit long enough, My Oregon and Ryobi chainsaws leak as do the M12 and M18 Hatchets. They all sit in plastic bins or bags when not in use.

I have a 40v and 2 18v Ryobi (the mini one, and the one that you hold with one hand), a corded Worx, and a Husq. The only one that doesn't leak is the handheld one because it's not meant for continuous use, so you have to oil it manually. The rest of them (including the Husky) all leak to some extent if I let it sit.

I always figured it's normal to the point where if one DIDN'T leak, I would be worried that the chain wasn't getting oiled properly when in use.

The slowest leak occurs if I adjust the flow to the lowest setting (especially the 40v Ryobi) prior to storage (or drain the tank).

I just sent in my M18 saw for being ded. They said it was the switch and replaced it, but the work order also shows they replaced a bunch of parts on the oiler without me asking.

I left it full on my workbench for 24 hours and it's not leaked...

My Homelite gas saw leaked bar oil, and so do my two Ryobi battery saws. Now I just drain the oil when I’m done using them.
