I just found a Ryobi Measure Tech (EMT0005) in a bag of stuff my wife bought at a yard sale. But I can't figure out how to make it work. 
It just says error when I push the read button. I put a brand new battery in it, but that did not help. I know it's supposed to be a fancy yardstick basiclly. probably not really accurate.
Can someone help me figure this out?
I did find the owners manual on line.
But it does not help me figure out why is says error, other than chage out the battery.
I think it is just a big laser pointer now?
