anyone have the ryobi p261 yet or used it does it work well i am debating between that and vs husky 8 gal air compressor

I can't find one for sale.
If the local store has one, it's the older P260 model. homedepot.com still shows them as out of stock.
I had posted something to Ryobi's FB page on May 5th, asking about them, and they said they'd be back in stock in a couple weeks.
Hasn't happened yet...

I have one and love it. Got mine a month or so back when they first hit shelves in limited quantities. I've been using it more than my pneumatic IR for most things under 19mm. Certainly won't completely replace a heavy hitting air gun, but for a lot of the smaller things the convenience and portability is wonderful.
I'd certainly recommend getting the P261 over the older 260. My friend has the older version and the extra 100 lb-ft is rather noticeable. And the LED lights are a nice touch (come on before the anvil moves, and stay on 7-10 seconds after). Additionally I've used the 3-speed settings a lot more than I thought I would. Makes driving in smaller fasteners more precise and reduces the chance of damage (on say 10mm fender bolts for example).
As for availability, I've seen a few in stores since, but not many. Usually they are mixed in with the older 260 versions or placed behind them on the shelf. I'm thinking they are trying to sell of some of the older versions before fully stocking the newer 261's.

Yes I just bought one. The Home Depot website said all my local stores were out of stock but the Ontario, CA had a bunch of them.
So far I used it to zip the lug nuts off the wife's Camry and a few other assorted test projects. It works fine. I'm not sure how useful the three speed feature will be, it seems like more of a sales gimmick to me. But so far, thumbs up, especially at $119.

Just got the P261 brand new, in box, from a seller on eBay. Hooked it up to a battery and man is it powerful! One question to the p261 owners, though. Can you see visible sparks pretty much coming out of the back screen on yours? Not far (maybe 1/8"), but they're there. Enough for me to notice! It also has a bit of a burning smell. I'd hate to have this be defective as it took me so long to find one, but it is what it is!

Normal for a new, electric brushed tool.
If it doesn't dissipate after some use, not normal. Your owners manual likely discusses this as Ryobi's manuals are surpringly thorough. Milwaukee mentions it in most of their manuals.

Both mine, and a friends do the same thing. Seems to be diminishing over time as it gets used. No issues with speed or power so far.

Found one stuffed behind a bunch of P260's at my HD a couple weeks ago and snagged it. Threw a battery on it when I got home and it had no issue busting off the lug nuts on my F250. For quick simple jobs I'm just using that rather than firing up my 220v 60gal compressor.

I bought one last week. Only played with it but so far I do like it. I am kind of a Ryobi fanboy myself, also a Milwaukee fanboy for cordless at work.
I'm a Ryobi fan boy as well - but only for cordless tools. (Although i have a corded bench grinder, circular saw and sawzall that were given to me and all work fine) I just like the whole "system." I don't get nearly as much use out of my drills as most people, but add an impact wrench, radio, fans, weedwacker, hedge trimmer, etc and my batteries get a workout - makes it worth owning enough batteries for a large project.
I've got the large Lithium+ batteries that i'll be using for the impact wrench. I only got to try it a little bit before I left for the weekend, but will be checking it out on my lugs this week when I go to change my brakes.

+1 on thanks for the comments. I just got one and as soon as I spun it up it was shooting sparks and smelling hot. I noticed that the sparks occur as the tool is stopping rather than when running. I think it has to do with the electric brake. I hope too that it goes away with some use.
