I had the opportunity to play with this saw today at the HD in Brandon, MS. It felt great. Honestly, it felt better to slide then the Dewalt 12" 780. Went home to look up reviews on this saw and found the combo for only $30 more.

If it's still there tomorrow I might have to bring it home. Thought I'd pass it along for anyone else in the hunt for a quality price point saw.

According to the HD website, only available online here. That stinks because I will be needing a miter saw soon...

I have the older blue sliding miter saw and I have to agree that it is not very good. I have not broken anything on it, but the positive click/indent *****. Most saws have a good positive click when you set it to cut common angles, but the blue Ryobi has so much slop in it that the accuracy suffers. I had a chance to handle the newer Green sliding miter saw and the Positive click/indents have been redesigned or improved. I plan on upgrading to this newer version when I can.

I do have the black version of this stand and it is a great buy. I liked it so much that I got one for my friend. I only wish I had got a stand sooner.

We've bought our first home and I know I want a sliding miter... is 10" the best way to go or should I aim for 12"? I plan on cutting crown molding etc. I don't mind spending some money on tools that will last me a long time.

Most people I know who own a 10 say it's plenty and few have wanted more capacity.

I've only ever owned a 12 so I don't know.

My 10" Makita will crosscut a 4x12.. and still do a fine job on crown molding.
I've had it 10+ years, never an issue.
