Got this set given to me when I was 8 or 9 by a neighbor after I helped him fix his car. (I mostly cleaned parts, nuts & bolts). Had this all those years.

Nice. that's a hell of a gift, I'm sure you'll pass it on to someone who will appreciate it as much as you did.

If you still know the guy, I would take him to dinner and let him know what he did when you were a young lad has stuck with you all these years and that you really appreciate him

Thanks guys. I unfortunatly lost track of my neighbor, he has probably already passed away, been looking for him for years. Might give the sets to my son or one of my 7 grandsons. My son has the same fetish for Snap On as me. I also got lots of old tools from my great granfather, grandfather & my dad. Valuable heirlooms for sure as Im concerned. Thanks again!:3gears:

Yup, something special about using tools you know your dad/grandpa etc had in their hands years ago. Great pics, and thanks for sharing.

BTW, love your avatar, very cool. Ford tilt cabover or International?

I have the equivalent 1/4" drive SK set.

Been using it regularly for 40 years.

X2, but about 30 years for me in the 1/4" set. But I got it at a real auction around '85, so mine is probably 40 years old or so also. SK lasts and lasts and lasts if taken care of. I do have some that have some corrosion I picked up elsewhere, but most old SK still looks great 30 years on with great chrome. NEW SK is great too for the current generations! - Paul

I have a set like that, from my grandfather's estate. Unfortunately part of the set was stolen at work by a lowlife technician.

I later became his boss and had the pleasure of firing him for falsifying log sheet data entry (engine dyno lab). The tool thefts ceased immediately after he was canned, but every time I use that fine set of SK sockets, I think of my grandfather and the lowlife I canned.
