What do you feel about the 12pt vs. the 6pt in a impact situation?
It irritates me that I type Snap On in the search field and this pops up because of the clever wordplay in the heading. Irritates me enough to not want to purchase anything from that reseller because I know what they are doing.
on topic, but how well would a 12pt work in an impact scenario? cant say ive seen alot of 12pt impact sockets.

Seems like most impact sockets are 6pt to keep the possibility of rounding off or slipping on a fastener down; olds88, was wondering if that was a issue for you or not?

The 12mm 12 point wobble is handy on Ford driveshafts. Other sizes can come in handy, but I normally prefer to use a hand socket in those instances. The trick here is to know what your working on, because these average about $20 a socket, so a set MAY be cheaper.

FWIW, Amazon had that set in 6 point a couple of months ago for $70 with free shipping.
It's pretty much impossible to beat Amazon prices, I think, for SK. It's just that you've got to keep an eye on them.

They are Flank-drive type (I think S-K calls it Sure-grip), so they should bite onto bolt heads that are in good condition to begin with fine.
Alot of cars have 12 point fasteners in the drivetrain. What drove me to look for these in the first place is that I did a clutch in a Toyota 4Runner the other day and these would have been useful.

I've got some MAC std.12pt 3/8dr. impact sockets. They are my go to sockets and I have never rounded any bolts off with them.
