That's good to hear. Glad to find out some actual physical progress is being made.
America could use a home-grown tool manufacturer right now.

I'm sort of excited to see their new tool lineup and to get some feedback on how the tools perform.

I can't wait to see what kind of new ratchets they have coming out. It's really nice to see an American tool company being built. They will most certainly have my support.

i just wonder though how many people will support them. cause everybody is gonna say it doesnt compare to the old sk and to buy used or nos older sk even if the newer it very high quality. i dont know i guess we will see i will buy my fair share of there new stuff.

I bet the new stuff will be really nice. They know what they have to compete with and I can't imagine they would be dumb enough to come out with an inferior tool when there are so many great tools to choose from. you know the workers will take pride in their work. I'm excited

I'd pick up NOS SK if the prices come back down to realistic levels, especially on discontinued bits like ol' facom day bits... but GLADLY pick up the new stuff w/o any questions. If the first runs turn out to have issues, i'd be sad but won't hold it against teh SK for longer than a minute.

These are the most interesting things to me:

Wrenches being produced at the Western Forge facility in CO, not the new IL facility.

Some of old equipment is being relocated to the new IL facility. I thought Ideal only purchased the intellectual rights, but I guess they bought some physical assets as well.

I wonder if the Ideal tools will be all new, or if they'll keep some of the old designs? I'd vote for keeping the classic ratchets, adding a series of fine-tooth ratchets and then focusing on longer wrenches. I think the old SK wrenches were just a little on the short side.

What little I do know about Ideal (I grew up here, and know a retired engineer from there), I will be really surprised if they screw this up. It could happen, but if I was a betting man, which I am not, Id put my money on better tools than before. What the price point will be is to be seen. I'm guessing it will be more, but better tools. Not that I think there was anything "junky" with the old SK...

If they can get the price point down to somewhere around Williams, etc. (a little more than Craftsman, but not in the stratosphere with Snap-On/MAC/etc.) I'll be the first in line to buy their tools
