S-K socket tool boxes

I've come across an S-K 1/4" drive set tool box that has hinges (as opposed to rivets). This looks like a beginners set with nine sockets, an amber spinner and little else. I've never seen one before. I'm a little new to Garage Journal, so if this is something that's been discussed previously, my apologies. Any ideas on the dates these were made? I've gone through all my S-K catalogs for some kind of info, but nada. Thanks for any information.

Never seen one with the hinges, my set had the rivets. Interested to see what others have to say.

The Amber handled spinners last year offered was 1963. Is the S-K tag riveted on aluminum or is it a water transfer?

Plier marks on a socket driver, I wish that wasn't so common

The S-K emblem is a decal, no rivets and not a badge.

According to the Internet, SK tools as purchased by dresser industries in 1968 so after that

I found a brand new set like that in my father in law's stuff after he died. I don't think it has ever been used. It has a green hard handle.

If the box has a decal it is WW2 vintage or prewar. Prewar tools are likely to be chrome plated.

Jeep, Thanks for the info/photos. The decal on mine is centered, but crooked, so I thought it might be a botched attempt at a fake - almost tossed it in the dumpster. It's too bad there's not more documentation on this WWII & pre-war stuff, it might save some innocent tools from an early demise.

Here is most of my S-K tool collection. The large box was purchased new in 1953 by a friend of mine who passed away late last year. I found a similar looking box in my 1936 Baker & Hamilton hardware catalog, with a P/N of 4000. Mine has a P/N of 4010R, and I have yet find an old 1950's S-K...
