Cleaning and sorting some of my tools. I inherited this S&K tool box from my sister-in-law's Uncle. The box end wrenches and the 1/4 inch sockets were missing but everything else was in there. Including the catalog and the receipt. It's dated 5/5/1955 and he paid $86. I'm using it to store all my sockets and wrenches.

Thanks guys. It was a sad day cleaning up the farm. It was 100+ degrees and we worked all day. My sister-in-laws parents kept on giving me tools saying Uncle Tom would want me to have them. Just before we knocked off. My brother came out of the shed loaded the tool box in my truck. All he said was "Here. Farm tools." I didn't even know what was in the box. He's a good brother.

What an absolute goldmine you have there!! I missed your posting first time around.

Thank-you for posting that S-K catalogue. The oldest catalogue I have is from 1969 (#91509) and of course no longer has any pricing. But, it shows the expanded line of punches, wrenches, pliers and some tool boxes over its 44 pages.

From your catalogue, I see my 1/4" drive set #4098 that I purchased new in 1954 and have posted pictures of it many times here. It is priced at $8.50...I remember paying $8 for mine. For anyone missing their cross bar for their breaker bar, you can order it from that catalogue.......17 cents, Ha Ha.

I usually don’t get too excited about a toolbox but with the history and still having the original tools that’s damn cool right there.

Sorry to hear about your sister in laws uncle.. Glad the super cool tools and box found their way to a good home instead of a scrap pile.

I would be interested in seeing more of that cricket ratchet, either a video of it in use or at least some more pics!

Nothing like premium American Iron in the toolbox - and that box is sweet, too.
Amazing to see the receipt. Just wow. Those tools have been kicking @ss for over 60 years, now it is your turn to continue the family tradition. Glad you got them.

Thanks for your thoughts.
My sister-in-law is wonderful. My brother has been married for 30+ years and his inlaws have welcomed us like we were born into the family.
I've tried to use the ratchet a couple of times. If the bolt is on tight it isn't easy to break free. It works ok to speed getting a bolt on and off if you have limited room to crank a ratchet.
Best to you and yours as well.
