Anyone else notice that they sell S-K stuff once in a while? Seems a little out of place.

News to me. Checked on SK website and from the press center latest news 12/27/09 "SK maintains manufacturing operations of sockets, drive tools, accessories, ratchet components, and final product assembly at the Chicago plant while forging of wrenches and ratchet handles and chrome plating continue in the Defiance, Ohio plant."
On the front page show a big American flag.

Only sk ratcheting wrenches are imported as far as I know.
And screwdrivers (Slovenia), flex and double joint pliers (Taiwan) and some misc items from France & Italy that are carry over from their Facom days. Their new torque wrenches are assembled in the USA from foreign components. Air tools are also imported...
Yup. I picked up an SK 3/8-3/4'' stubby wrench set from HF online about 5 years ago. They were on sale for around $25.

What exactly have you broken that you did not misuse?

every tool ive ever broken has been misused.
especially the SO 5/8" comb wrench that tool 10 hits from a 8lb sledge before the handle broke in 1/2
and the matco 5/16" wrench that i bent into an L shape with a foot of pipe on it.

20 to 25 years ago they'd be out of place for sure, but with their recent downward spiral in quality, they seem to blend in quit well with HF now.
so we will soon see all the truck brands there as well then if that is the criteria.

not all techs are snobs. I've met plenty that realize harbor freight has some good deals on some things that you just can't pass up.
Snap On is selling at Costco, Pepboy, Sears, etc...

Well, I saw Snap-On gloves at Big Lots here in Indy!
I had to do a double take!! But yep, genuine and licensed by SO for $7! I would have bought a pair but they were only in XL size--I need a L. What's next, the Dollar Tree?Edit: Added crappy cell phone pic:

I wouldn't put it past HF to slightly modify the S-K markings on their chicrap, to make it appear to be genuine.
They have no problems selling cheap imitations of other American made products.
As I have said, I cannot understand why HF has not been sued out of business by someone getting injured by using their junk. I imagine the shell companies that protect HF are eyeball deep to a giraffe.

There was a time when I was only concerned about getting the most from my dollar. Admittedly I bought stuff at HF. These days I'm really trying to resist, even if it means I have to spend more money. Kinda hurts the pocketbook, but I think American based companies who still offer American made products should be rewarded.
