i hear tons of talk here about s/o hand tools

BUT, how are their air tools?

who makes them for s/o?

the one i saw a deal on is the MG31 3/8" air impact wrench - any thoughts on this one v. other 3/8" impact wrenches? - say the IR 2115Ti? - thanks ED

The MG31 is a great tool IMO. I use it for suspension work mostly, even removes the lug nuts on 2500 & 3500 trucks with little effort. Pretty strong for a 3/8.

Also, there has been many threads about SO air tools & the MG31 in particular. Do a search & you will find lots.

The 31 is made in house I think

The MG31, it's predecessor the IM31 & my BP 1/4" ratchet are the only SO air tools I've used & I have liked them for the most part.

i had a MG31 and I hate it.....its too LOUD for me, I trade it in for a MAC 3/8 impact gun thats made by Aircat and its quiet and more powerful.

i'm faithful to Ingersoll-Rand.

I was until I was introduced to Aircat.

Does anybody know who makes this impact?

Snap on owns Sioux tools. It stands to reason that Sioux makes some of the Snap On air tools. I'm going to the Sioux Factory next week... curious to see what they do there.

Do tell. Can you shoot some video while you are there?

I have a snap on 3/8 air ratchet - heavily abusesd since 1986 . I have had the 200 dollar snap on 1/4 inch air ratchet since 98 , still works like brand new
I have a snap on butterfly inpact that is stuck in loosen for 5 years , gotta fix that , but when it works , it works well
I have a lot of 20+ year old blue point an ingersoll , a 27 year old IR 390 ft lb 1/2 impact , I bought it because the IR stickers were on Nascar winston cup ft fenders back in the 70s
got a few air tools

It is my understanding that Ingersol Rand makes most air tools for Snap On MAC, Sears .
Each company just has a different look, but inside they are IR.

Your understanding is wrong. IR doesnt make snap on's air tools. Snap On does.

IR makes some of the blue point line IIRC, but the snap on line of air tools are made by snap on in thier nattuck mass facility. i have two far70c's, a far25, an im31, and a pdr5 that i am extremely happy with but the xt6100 *****. there will be a ph3050 in my box in the near future too.

Yea I assumed some blue point may be IR, but you have to assume any blue point air tool is not really a snap on anyway.

It strikes me odd however that IR would do business with Snap On for some of their BP air tools. If you watch Snap On's "Mother of all impacts" or whatever the slogan is, video, they really trash IR. I guess ti all comes down to politics!

Not to get off topic, but what if the "ball" in the grease fitting (on the head of the grinder) seems to be missing?
