What makes you think it's an SMF? And why wouldn't you think it was a $37 eBay clone?

Two reasons..the ebay junker doesnt have the Gunner grip texturing on the frame lock side, and I just figured a guy who'll drop 25 buck on fancy little adapter wouldnt own a cheap knockoff Strider... but I guess neither proves his particular knife a real SMF/SNG, even though it looks correct, titanium and all.

nope far as i can tell they are the exactly the same, but i do have an older snap on version

If you mean mean exactly the same as in same manufacturer and/or COO then you're wrong. The Snap-On is USA made and the Cman is made in Taiwan. Very similar in appearance though.

I have been looking for awhile for the ssdmr24 extra long ratcheting screwdriver but eBay prices are crazy for these

Agreed. When I was "watching" several a few weeks ago they were selling for about the same rice as they cost from SO direct, one was even a few bucks more after shipping... silly.

Ebay is great for SO ratchets tho.. I've managed to snag two really nice 1/2 inchers, 3/8 and several 1/4's, all in near new condition for less than half of new.

Not sure why the SO ratcheting screwdrivers go for so much there :dunno:

I like my Williams so much that I purposely grabbed it to replace all the door hardware and outlet covers in my new house, and I own a power driver.

I should add that the knurling on the Snap On version isn't a selling feature for me as I always grab closer to the bit when twisting with my fingers. Buy the Williams and be happy.

Here on GJ, if it looks the same, it is the same. See the highly inaccurate "Tool Truck Equivalents" thread. Good information mixed with pure BS.

Same here... watched a few and bid. Seems like a hot item on the bay... most selling near, same or more than from SO. I guess you can charge whatever, people to lazy to shop around.

I figure for less hassle and waiting, I'll get it direct from SO for a few more bucks and support the company.

Then again, when I was looking for pliers it was the same deal, many new sets selling for more than SO. Found a new set on buya from a pawnshop for 2/3 of new price.... I think if you have enough time and/or luck you can snag deals on eBay

Yea, usually not enough savings in the bay to mess with bidding.
I seek out good "buy now" prices on ratchets, study the photos and description real carefully, check the seller rating and shipping price. Its worked great for all those regular ratchets I mentioned.
Bidding nowadays has been fruitless... as if I'm up against a bunch of people who just want to "win" regardless of whether its a good deal or not

Lately I've been eyeballing the stubby version... It'll fit in my 'round-the-house basic tool kit much better (a converted Glock hard case kept in the kitchen drawer).
Aside from being really big, the full size rattles with bits inside (annoying) and the **** cap can come off when pressing in hard and turning left.

^ I like the black one in the box... cheaper, simpler, shorter, and matches all my other SO screwdrivers.
Sometimes I kinda wish I had gone that route instead of the bigger/newer instinct version.

Okay, but you knew it was an SMF, and not the smaller SNG, without seeing how many screws were in the handle. Good eye.

$25 on an adapter is nothing, compared to 48548 with his 9 fancy new ones, above your last post, DANG:

48548, are they all different? How is the 3rd one, black and silver, different from the gunmetal grey versions? Does it incorporate a magnet? Is it only laser-etched, without the roll-stamp?

What about the two on each end? The ones with the rubberized collar, and shinier chrome? How are they different?

I also like the black ratcheting screwdriver, also because it matches my other screwdrivers and because I don't like the instinct handles either.

The chrome ones are not impact and some came in the sets, others I bought as separate. Since are the bigger bits over 1/4. I will get more info when I get back home. The one with out plastic piece came from the zyklops 1/2 set I have. Wera makes great tools. Non magnetic, they have a ball to hokd the bits and a locking collar
