going through the tools in a repo from friday. look at what this guy did to snap on wrenches. at least he could have used a few china/tiawan junk ones instead of these things. One is a blue point boerm19 ratchet wrench. and oh yeah they were all flank drive plus at that. what a shame.....

oh well.

That would have taken a while to do. This guy was committed to being a ****.

Do those get melted down now? What happens to repo tools anyway. Is there some way I can get a deal?

while i don't condone cutting up any good wrench for a special project i feel no more remorse for a snap-on than any other. sadly he must have drank the kool-aid and had no other wrenches to cut up. he must have thought the sacrifice worth the gain. who are we to argue.

well he bailed out ( not one of my original customer he was a transfer ) and left the box. the shop owner paid it for two months and then told me to come get it, customer isnt coming back and the shop owner took all the non snap on tools out of the box for his twomonths of tool payments.
now there are two pages of tools missing that mysteriously vanished in a house fire. So this guy is going to be stuck with a massive bill after this is said and done. Box has been tore up as well. front looks good but the sides and ss top look real bad.
if you are in my route now is the time to buy some tools

Only thing I can think of that he did wrong was not paying his bills. Tools are tools and if they need to be modded to to work for a project then why not? Also he did mod at least 1 Taiwan junk wrench.

Any chance the Repos are going to be offered for sale here?

One question comes to mind...If he puts the box up as collateral on a loan to buy tools (I assume that is what you prefer as you can't track tools....) and then sells the box, what happens to the buyer????

The guy can show paperwork where the original box was paid off and the buyer thinks everything is OK....

Sorry, couldn't resist....;)

most of the wrenches look like then were cut, but the edges were dressed. So I don't think it was to be a jerk cause it was being repo'd.

That would be my guess. He knew they were going to get reposed and decided to break all of them out of spite. Real scumbag move IMO. Especially considering that they wouldn't be getting reposed if he would live up to the agreement that he made and kept up with the payments.

Not true. I know that when I set up a truck account with my SO dealer I had to sign saying something to the extent of the tools must be kept in good condition and if they payments are not made the buyer must return the tools to the dealer. So if he wasn't paying for them they were not really his to "modify".

Tool truck companies should finance their tools through an independent finance company. That way, the guy can't finance more tools with Cornwall or Matco. He would have to pay 'retail' for his next job.

All these guys that don't pay for their tools, make it that much more expensive for us to buy tools. :(

Shaun, do they ever give you figures for how much $ Snap On repo's, you know, as an incentive to check up on your clients?

he left and right before that he tried to buy alot more, but i knew something wasn't right about the whole thing and didnt want any part of it. sure glad i didnt stick my neck out.

they were chopped in half and then smoothed down so as not to cut you when using.
he did it for a job im sure.

the halves are half off i think...lol we will see what happens with these... I might get laughed at when i put them on the truck for sale

That is bad! I buy cheapo wrench sets from Harbor Freight, just for that purpose.

The deadbeat customers are what pulls a dealer down IMHO.

My Cornwell dealer started out great, and he is a good dealer, but I have seen the b.s. and deadbeats are taking their toll on him. I have complained about alot of things truck tools are not, but have always paid for what I do buy.

Makes me mad, that guys abuse/ruin stuff they didn't even pay for!

If he buy HF wrenches, he woudn't be in debt and he wouldn't have destroyed the wrenches either.

One thing to get caught in a bad situation where you can't pay (doesn't sound like that in this instance though) but to then turn into a real slime bag and destroy the property for that failure that wasn't his to begin with shows what he's made of.

That, and if he returned the property instead of destroying it he wouldn't owe as much on that failure shows that he's numb to boot.

I once bought a repo box that the previous owner had bent a number of draws down and scratched it up out of spite. Like it was the dealers fault that he had to split town.

Our local dealer here has been on this route for thirty years, and is also a friend. So I hear all the story's.

I just can't imagine having tools repo'd. Sorry, but I will buy 20 sets of $29.00 wrenches at Walmart before I ever owed one dime to some company selling expensive tools. Hell, call the $29.00 monthly wrench replacement a payment, but at least I own them each and every month. Not trying to be a hater, but I just don't get the whole expensive tool thing.

i owe 0 dollars on tools.

i will never finace tools. stupid to begin with, why would a deal finace with a guy, he should make the guy get a loan from a bank and not have to deal with chasing money, let the bank chase the crappy customer down and do the repoing.

if i do nto have the cash on hand to buy, then i dont get anything.

well after a full check of his box he does have the full sets of wrenches so he bought these after the fact to cut for special tools.
7-19 and 3/8 - 1 inch FDP two sae are missing, but they are not the ones that are chopped.

Out of my mind... Be back soon!

From mrshaun's comments, it sounds to me like it was more a case of "it's not mine, I won't take care of it" than actually destroying them out of spite. Still sad, though.

Anyway, if the guy wanted a half-length wrench and was buying SO tools, why didn't he just buy a SO midget wrench? :headscrat

What kind of FMV do you put on those wrenches?
