This is Anne, Roy's wife (he posted as mmfh here on the Garage Journal). I wanted to let everyone know that he sadly passed away November 3, 2012; he was on a boat with two friends when he had a sudden heart attack. Roy felt a real connection with his friends on the Garage Journal. He was excited to get his shop set up again in his garage and he showed me all the cool garage remodel pictures that he posted here. He took ideas from what he saw on the forum, repainted his garage and set up his equipment - he was close to finishing his shop, but he was very ill and he pushed himself more than he should have with his congestive heart failure. It was his dream to rebuild engines again and he told me he couldn't spend the rest of his life lying in bed doing nothing and that he would die trying - he was motivated and had a love for life. There were times when I would tell him to lay down when he wasn't feeling well, but he would say he had to finish something or get something done (he did take a lot of breaks when trying to do things, but he always got back up again and tried doing all he could). I just wanted everyone to know how much he enjoyed the the Garage Journal and thank you for being a part of his life. I want to thank everyone on this board who has helped Roy out in the past when he had a problem, and I hope he has helped others.

Thanks to my brother's help I have created a memorial website for Roy at RoyHuddleston.wordpress.com. His funeral service is this Sunday (18th), details are posted on the memorial blog.

Re: The Never Ending Retirement Garage/Shop Projects
Wow Otis!!

I've seen places like this that are absolutely in a perfect location but the house leaves a little to be desired. You found that diamond in the rough for sure!

That is a location where I could spend the rest of my days. I believe your Wife is correct in wanting that View, except how are you ever going to get any work done when finished? I would buy me a real nice lounger and spend my days watching the water.

Was just up your way not long ago and took the ferry across to Friday Harbor, beautiful area up there. I'm jealous of your setup.

Nice!

Mm

Dear Anne,
Thank you for sharing your husbands time with us.
You seem to have been a loving and supportive companion.
As i feel safe to say is the case with many, i too have had to recover from the loss of a loved one. Grieving is part of the recovery process, so don't hold back your emotions.

I personally was comforted by the words of Rev. 21:4.
It promises of life without end, free from sickness and disease.

Deepest sympathies...

Sorry for your loss. He did what he wanted to do at what ever the cost. My dad is the same, he won't stop. Be strong and hope the best for your family.

My condolences as well. We lost our next door neighbor and dear friend to chf this year also. The man was like a father to me and I still miss him everyday.
