Hi,
Just received my Tekton Stubby Ratcheting wrenches and realised that they're 6pt and not 12pt. Unfortunately I need 12pt because I'm working with many 12pt fasteners.

So what do you recommend? I live in Europe so it's not that easy to find a set. Found some gearwrench from US but the shipping was very expensive as I had to buy the 5/16 separately.

I can't afford the expensive brands so I'm looking for something like Tekton.

Hope you all get a nice weekend!

For europe facom 467s AF set would be nice, 12 point, thinner ring than most and proper made .
As far as I know tekton don't have stubby 12 points, 6 point on a stubby is useless even if on 6 point fastener due to fitting difficulty and general tight space requiring a stubby .

The Facom set is nice good quality. You can get them a LOT cheaper here in AU under the Sidchrome brand.

Tekton doesn't have 12pt unfortunately. Facom would be nice, but right now it's to expensive for me. I will look for the sidchrome to see if I can find any retailers that will ship to me.

They do sae as I got a set long and short .
If price a concern look at bergen they do small sae set of about 5 wrenches or usa amazon for some at acceptable price that can be shipped via amazon global shipping .
Not a big choice on 12 point sae ratchet stubby sets outside US .

Strange, can't find them either in the catalogue or on their website, maybe discontinued?

Tried to find it but could only find 467.JPU8 not the stubby ones :(. I could probably get a gearwrench set for around 80 USD but then the 5/16 isn't included and I will have to buy it from another seller which will be 30usd more.

As I have picked up both SAE and MM Facom 440 series combos, I would love to get more different sets. The Facom stuff is extremely **** and I feel underrated. There's a group of us on here that really like it but it seems to kind of fly under the radar. Obviously there's not a big present in the US but still...

That gearwrench set might be the winner, unfortunately the price with shipping will be 102 USD (paid around 40 for the Tekton). The sunex also looks nice, 150 USD it will cost for me, I have never seen it here in Europe actually.

Found some of the short spanners from Facom but only separately pieces (which weren't that expensive actually).

indeed facom not too expensive yet top tier quality and design.
440 wrenches and 467 467B ratchet wrenches are superb for prices can be found at.
440 wrenches are close/equal to quality/design of stahlwille .

Tekton doesn't have 12 point stubby ratcheting wrenches? Why have any ratcheting wrenches at all then? Some companies out there make some dumb decisions.

Aside from using it on a 12 point fastener, the crisp 72 tooth action allows you to easily & quickly position it on a fastener. I don't see what the issue is. All of Tekton's fine tooth ratcheting wrenches are six point. I like them.:dunno:

Since you're calling a wrench a spanner, I'm not sure where you're located but, have you considered Sunex?

absolute no need for a 6 point on a stubby, not enough torque ever need 6 point, in real tight hard handling scenario it harder get on fixing over a 12 point regardless of ratchet count .

The issue is ... the OP has 12 point fasteners to turn. Post #1

6 point wrenches aren't going to help him at all.

Read the OP again. There's one sentence that's very important. I highlighted it in red so you can't miss it.

Thank you again for all answers, I will look into the gearwrench a bit more. I finally found a facom set but it was very expensive (160gbp + shipping). I live in Sweden, I don't now why I wrote spanner instead of wrench actually ;)

Advanced Auto has Gearwrench on sale. Not sure of shipping.

Checked it out, 20 USD for a set:drool: buuut ... No international shipping :( Why is it so hard to find a set in Europe, checked all the Taiwan brands from UK also (Bergen, us pro, sealey etc) and couldn't find anything.

What ! :-/ !!! I didn't miss it hence why I recommended and talking about 12 point ratchet stubby wrenches and only one need in a stubby is 12 point .
No idea why tekton full range is 6 point only ...

I would buy facom singles or perhaps this gearwrench set in uk
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GEARWREN...649337&hash=item2a847ce455:g:c3kAAOSww5hZOG61
Other option could be customising a cheaper long set to your specific required length short handle single ratchet 12point box, such as this flexi sae set at 32gbp perhaps
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8pc-Flex...372259386616?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10
seems you on 12point fastener the open end not much loss and tool be more slender and made to best length for fastener sizes and scenario .

What work best for your scenario, offset reversible, straight or flexi ratchet wrench ?

I checked the prices on facom singles and it wasn't that expensive actually, I would feel fooled if I bought the gearwrench set for 70gbp when it's only 20usd in the us.

I don't want to modify them myself as I want them to look nice and keep some warranty. Offset or straight would be the best as I don't like the flex heads. Found all the sizes of the facom on Amazon except the 3/8 :(

Ok, bought all the facom ones, should arrive in next week :D

Next problem, I almost pulled the trigger on Tektons 1/4 and 3/8 socket sets (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...socket+set&dpPl=1&dpID=51Qul+6R3rL&ref=plSrch) until I realized that they're also 6pt.

So obviously my next question is if you can recommend any good socket sets in inch. I need 1/4 short and long, 3/8 short and long and would prefer if it was at least 11sizes on each drive size.

Looked around a little but couldn't find any seller with all sets I need :(

You could look at sealey premier or BGS .
expect 1/4 deep 12 points harder ones find in above brands
Other bit more expensive option is Koken .
Do draper do any, I have 35yr old draper japan 12 points 3/8 and 1/2 drive metric and imperial and they superb sockets .

Gearwrench sockets not a bad option (nice design sockets) if want import .

sets like 80313 and 80568 good coverage and sometimes found cheap or a buy 1 get 1/4 set free .

I have checked sealey and bgs and no luck. Seems very hard to find both long and short with 12point here in Europe. I checked gearwrench but again the shipping is really expensive (90 USD per set) :(

Premier do 3/8 in both short(AK2672) and long(AK2673) and 1/4 short(AK2680)
Prices are pretty good and sockets decent end taiwan, don't seem do 1/4 deeps unfortunately
Toptul has a set of 1/4 deep(GBAR1001) and they bargain price
All sealey premier and the 1/4 deep toptul linked via part numbers above are proper nice taiwan quality sockets and very nice prices too .

Only sensible priced one doing 3/8 and 1/4 in 12pt short and deep is gearwrench
they do on rails but expect sets in blow moulded cases cheaper (before the dreaded shipping)

Thank you very much for your time, Mr B! I really appreciate it
Found a retailer here in Sweden who sells the gearwrench set, 120gbp for the 3/8 and the small set isn't listed yet, so I will probably order from him. Otherwise the TopTul also looks really nice:drool:

Toptul is really nice, they don't do much sae though, have good sales coverage in europe so worth looking into toptul brand.

Gearwrench sockets are nice, just shame europe prices more than double US .

The Craftsman also look nice, but from the us so I guess the price will be three times higher :(

I've sent a mail to a swedish toptul retailer so I will wait for an answer. If I buy gearwrench from the swedish company they promised me lifetime warranty so I don't have to go via gearwrench so it might be worth it.

Craftsman looks to be 18 bucks shipping and 10 bucks import tax via ebay global shipping program .
I never worry about life warranty on sockets as in 3 decades I hardly broke any .

Toptul do 1/4 12pt shorts in singles, they do 3/8 shorts and deeps in on rail sets, deep GBAQ1101 - short GBAQ1301
expect finding someone with stock maybe difficult, worth asking few toptul dealers though .
Good luck and post result/pic of what you get :)

I bought everything from eBay USA, all Craftsman. Maybe I paid to much but better than not having what I need.

I will update with pics when all my tools start dropping in.

Hopefully sensible price.
facom wrenches are sweet .
craftsman sockets pretty plain, I prefer the gearwrench design but your option limited and indeed any 12pt af going be better than nothing :-D

Hope delivery goes smooth and you happy with your choice, will be like christmas but better :)

Google for Sears gearwrench set 32 piece and see what comes up. I have bought a couple of these sets over the years around Christmas time for $72.00. Stubbies are 5/16 - 5/8 and 10mm-15. Longs are5/16-13/16 and 8-17mm. Might could sell the longs to recover some of your money??
