Safety boots/shoes

Looking for a new pair of treads for work. They've got to be steel toe. ANybody have any recomendations. Last 2 sets ive owned were wolverine 6" dura shock boots. I'm sick of my feet sweeting. Plus they squeek like none other on smooth floors.

Looking for something ankle legnth. Boots arent necessary.

I know this is kinda off topic but its work related. Anybody have any steel toe oxfords they like?

I wear Shoes for Crews. They have the best non-slip sole I have ever worn, are very comfortable, affordable, have lots of styles to choose from and don't squeek walking across the floor. They're not the most durable shoes I have ever owned they are very good at what they're designed for.

I need another pair before I go back for another co-op, I have looked at Justin's and Red Wings. The Red Wings are nice but pricey, the Justin's I can get a good deal on. I've also seen some Doc Marten Industrials that were pretty nice.

In My Not-So Humble Opinion......I have worn Flight deck boots (free!), Red Wings (big bucks!), and just about everything in between. The best all around (price/fit/comfort/durability) have been from Wal-Mart. I have steel toes for shop work and for everyday I wear BRAHMA's "Defender" model. They are waterproof, leather, come in wide width's, oil resistant soleplate and are slip resistant (I sat here and read the box <grin>). and were in the $30.00 range.

I hate my Doc Martins. Red Wings are nice, I have had about 4 pairs. But I am wearing Danner now and love them. Best boot I have ever owned.

Ain't that the damn truth. Squeekiest boots I've ever owned. Hated them. Had a pair of the Timberland Pros. Probably the most comfortable boot I've ever owned but they only lasted a year and they can't be re-soled.
Just bought a pair of Red Wings about a month ago. Love 'em. Don't think I'll buy any other brand from now on. They oil them free and replace the laces free as long as you own them and its only $45 to get them re-soled.

I moved to Houston from Indiana and it gets HOT here in the summer. I work as a tech at a Nissan dealer for 10+ hours a day and never notice my feet being hot.

I got a pair of RedWings about 6 years ago when working everyday in a bodyshop. I still have them and still wear them. It is time to replace them because they can't replace the sole now...but 2 years of everyday abuse and 4 years of weekend warrior abuse isn't bad for $200 I figured it would have cost me more in quantity of boots of another brand.

Doc Martens, steel toe work oxford, with padded cuff. Not the most comfortable, you will be replacing inserts every so often if on a concrete floor (as with any shoe) but they are very durable, and enough comfortable to wear for a full day at work. I work in southern summer heat and cold, my feet don't sweat, and I have no problems with them getting hot.

I went with WORX (by redwing). Its redwings cheaper line... I went into the redwing store and the guy recommened me a shoe which was actually pretty cheap, about 70$ as I recall. He told me it is what the majority of the Newark Airport (EWR) staff wear. So far, I have been very happy with them.

The most I have worn them was about 10 1/2 hours and I found them to be extremely comfortable. Also, Im on my feet pretty much that entire time, aside from pulling cars in and out, as well as lunch. The soles are seem to be very slip resistent, and dont seem to be wearing out. I have been wearing them since that thread with no complaints. Keep in mind, I typically wear them only 20-30 hours a week.

One thing I like is the fact that they use a composite toe, instead of steel. It meets the exact same ANSI standards, but it is lighter. And for the record, I have had a lift lowered onto my toe and they held up fine.

These are a good alternative to a boot, they are more or less a hightop sneaker. A few other guy's at work use shoess off the Cintas truck (our uniform company) and they love them. They are more like sneaker.

I have found that a boot with Thinsulate in a hot environment is a good thing. My main boot is the waterproof and insulated steel toe Red Wings and they have Gore Tex and Thinsulate. I wear them year round, 8+ hours a day.

My feet are much more uncomfortable in an UNinsulated boot in a hot environment. I consider a black roof on a summer day a hot environment.

Red Wing was supposed to release a boot with a moisture wicking material for hot climates, but I have no other info offhand on that.

Oh, and get yourself one of those Red Wing (Peet) boot driers.

Are any of these brands besides Red Wing still made in U.S.A.? For that matter, are the Red Wings still made in U.S.A.? I have had Rockys, Danners, Brahmas, Die Hards, etc. The only ones I would recommend are Red Wings. I hate to cough up the money as much as anybody (I'd rather spend it on tools) but when you work on your feet as much as I do, the Red Wings just make sense.

The redwings currently on my feet were made in the US as is everything with the Redwing name as far as I know, now their other brands are not.

Took about 5 minutes to find this example- plenty more out there. Might take longer to find other manufacturers within the borders of the USA, but that's no big deal.

Probably easier than finding the latest polished unobtanium part for your kart

Some of Justin's models are still Made in USA, but most people don't like the frilly thing on the front of the boot, near the bottom of the laces. I have alot of friends that have had many a pair and swear by them.

Ouch, well thing is you dont see much but the toe with pants on, and i am on concrete for 12 hours a day. Comfort was number 1.

Now if i had shorts and grey socks for work attire i would look like your dad...hah

Anyways...been meaning to say something to you about your avatar. My parents had an amphicar for 20 years. It spent its last 15 rusting away in their barn. Recently convinced them to sell it to someone and so it could get reborn. I see if i can find the pics.

Here it is, probly one of the most unique cars you will ever found. My parents sold it 2 years ago to a guy that has several. I think there are only 50 or so left in existance, they only made about 500 i think.

Yeah... my father in law is really into them. He has a few and has been know to buy/sell/trade them. In fact, he probably either: a) knows your parents or b) has owned/know who owns that car. I kid you not. The world is a VERY small place when you talk amphicars!

Talk about a cool little piece of engineering! I love playing with them, but I am not sure that I would want to own one.

I've had my Caterpillars for about a year now and they are some of the most comfortable work shoes I've worn. They get over 60 hours of use a week at an autobody shop, so i'm on concrete all day and the sole has hardly worn down. With the extra ankle support my feet don't feel tired at all, which wasn't the case with shoe-style work boots. I also like how the leather on the toe hasn't worn down to the steel yet, when i work i have to kneel down alot and my last few pairs of work shoes wore down to the steel toe within 9 months.

I can't find the exact model i have but they look alot like these, except in black.
