I have searched the forum and could not find this question answered. And I really don't want to get into a discussion on adding an oil or fuel filter to this washer.

Acquired an old Safety Kleen 17.4R parts washer. It had what I will call a bag filter with a plastic ring that fit into the drain hole - about 5 inch diameter. Looks to be a felt type filter to screen out big chunks of stuff as the fluid drains back into the barrel. Does anyone know where to find a filter like this? I've looked all over (no local Safety Kleen near me) on the web and can not find anything. I realize this is an obsolete unit but should last a long time for me.

Thanks for any help. If I can't find anything to buy will have to just make an equivalent.

Thanks - I'm aware of those and their intended use. The one that was in the washer (and really nasty) was a 'sock' about 8 or 12 inches long with a light plastic ring fastened to the open end. It just dropped into the drain hole, bottom end of the sock sat on the drain shelf under the sink, at the top of the drum.

Maybe a Safety Kleen only item, don't know.

Yep, but they are made for the filter housings that hold them. What I need is that type of filter with an attached plastic 'ring collar' to fit in the drain hole - which is a stamping like in a stainless steel kitchen sink, but larger.

If I have to make a collar I'll use one of the filters like you reference and clamp it to a pipe stub coming off the collar.
