Sagging roof and bowing wall

Hello folks,

Our garage is bowing on one wall on the outside and one part of the roof is sagging. I was looking at using some 2x6 and installing some trusses to help support the roof and jack it up a bit, the one part I am worried about is fixing the bowing wall, I have seen some youtube videos of folk using yellow straps to pull the wall in and others using a turnbuckle and wire.

I will try to post some videos later that help show what is going on, hopefully it wont be too hard a fix.

Hopefully these videos help, I was looking at installing hurricane ties but not sure how feasible that is with the current position of the trusses. I was going to have a friend help to get this jacked and bring the walls in a day.

I'm not an expert on this, but I don't believe those are trusses. I believe you have rafters and ties. Completely different animal.

I agree that they are not trusses but "common rafters"
part of( or most of ) the problem you have is there doesn't appear to be a ridge board or beam at the peak. that allows the roof and rafters to sag , pushing them outwards at the bottom , causing the walls to push out .

a proper fix will be a lot of work , and probably involve getting a ridge board let in to the rafters . you might be able to fabricate something to go under the rafters to support the roof line

It appears the rafter ties were added after the building sagged. So really, it's a trivial geometry problem, but attachment is everything to the original building. If you pull the walls, there's no guarantee the roof will go up. The roof may come loose from the walls instead. It is difficult to attach rafters to the top of a wall.

It would behoove you to pull on the rafters instead, but do all of them simultaneously. Straps are pretty cheap.

Is this a detached garage ? How much sag is in the roof line ? Pictures of the outside and inside might be more helpful. Have fixed a couple in My time prior to a new roof install. I agree with firebirdparts that the rafter ties were added after the building sagged ! Maybe I got lucky but supported the roof at the ridge removed the rafter ties and jacked up the ridge board which brought in the bowed walls ( rafters stayed attached to the top plate ) Installed new rafter ties and let the jacks down. Just a short version of the repair.
