Introductory post here - will appreciate any and all help!

I just scored a fully functioning Saylor Beall 755-80 for the cost of a six pack (seriously) and I’m looking to get a little intel about it for cleaning/maintenance/repairs.

First - The info I’ve seen online shows the 755-80 model having a 10hp 3 phase motor, however the one on my machine is a 5hp, single phase (220v). Should I assume it’s an aftermarket motor and if so, will it significantly reduce the cfm output of the compressor?

Second - Does anyone know if the 755 model use the old 705 pump? I can’t find much about anything other than the 705 for spare gaskets/parts.

Take a look 👀

Motor is correctly sized and looks original. Bet with some heavy degreasing it will look good as well. Does it work? Change the oil with some good synthetic & runner, SB recommends cleaning the valves so it wouldnt hurt to do that as a minimum & then you can somewhat see the condition of the cylinders while the valves are out. When you change the oil remove the inspection plate on the side and check the rod bearings for play

Btw you ****

It started and ran the day of removal, but I’m not sure the last time it’s been continuously employed. So thanks for the suggestions, I’ll be ordering a kit tonight.

I understand these deals only happen to people who have been baptized in the Fountain of Suckage.

You will need to make/buy a tool to remove the valves and they can be quite tight to get out but if you have the means to make the tool no problem.
