Imagine Snap-On makes some, but I haven't thought about those in decades. Ratcheting combos seemed to eliminate the need for those in most peoples eyes.

Wait, so now besides sockets, wrenches and ratcheting wrenches, I need to buy sockets that are wrenches or wrenches that have a socket? Will this lead to shallow, mid, deep and ratcheting saltus purchases? Don't tell my spouse....

Its been a couple years but everything I’ve purchased from McMaster-Carr has either been Snap-On or Armstrong.
Armstrong is long gone so not sure who’s filled that void.
Given the price, probably still USA made.
Metric and SAE still available.

^ I don't think anyone makes those in country any more unless Snap-on is still manufacturing them.
IF I was in the market for a set, I'd be looking for a nice clean set of Japan-made "Truecraft".

Herbrand made a double-ended model.
I don't think there were too many American manufacturers that made those.

You guys going to post about saltus wrenches and facom L wrenches until I finally buy some aren’t you?
I find the facom pipe wrenches more useful, though both can be nice. Just not used to pivots that much.

I keep seeing threads on these. I have zero need for these… but I want them.

I have four Saltus wrenches so far, including a gigantic 3/4” one. I have zero idea why they made such a huge wrench for such a small hardware size.

I have avoided the peer pressure so far…

I think it is safe to say that on a long enough timeline… I will have full sets of Saltus wrenches and pipe a cle wrenches… I just need to hold out until I find them at a garage or estate sale. The pipe a cle are calling me like a siren.

What do people actually use these for? I always assumed there was some niche application for Snap-On to keep making them

Hi everyone.

I could have used them Tuesday for tightening a steam pipe fitting that was over my head and in a bad spot. It would lock the fastener on one side so bolt or nut would t push through with a wrench. I k ow a ratchet would seem to do the same, but some times this would come in handy.

Stahlwille makes them in imperial sizes I found out. The proto are Chinese I think.

I’ll probably look for a used set.

I looked into this and apparently these ARE now made in Taiwan. That's unfortunate. The domestic ones were really nice, but I'm sure these are still high quality. This would be a fairly recent change. Thanks for mentioning.

I know it's not the GJ way, but if you have a specific application for these, I'd just buy that size. I had a set of these years ago, I thought they'd be useful working on small engines, and I used them a few times when they were new and that was it. I ended up giving them away years later. If you've made up your mind, then I'd definitely go with a used from Ebay as there are probably lots of them in inch sizes from retired mechanics.

Years ago, my mechanic said they were good for some things. The last two things I remember him using them on was a bleeder screw on an old pickup and a radio knob (get behind the dash), that wasn't a /32 size that most were then.

I priced them this morning to see how crazy they were on Ebay, I found an Armstrong set for less then most of the Craftsman sets, good lord.

I had a few years ago. At some point I did a comparison with using a breaker bar and socket. The breaker combo was actually shorter than the saltus socket. I cleared them out after that.
