Planning my upcoming epoxy job.

Can i fill contraction joints with epoxy filler and then use the diamond grinder to

sand it down? Will that make it blend in? Or do i need to add another step by grinding that down separately ?

Also, to pre fil with sand do i just sweep it in and then fill with filler?

streetdaddy - I'm starting my floor coating project now. Not sure if I'm going with epoxy or polyurea, but that's another issue. For cracks, I ordered Xtreme Set 100 from LegacyIndustrial. Hopefully it arrives this week, though I just ordered it yesterday. Here's the link: http://www.legacyindustrial.net/pro...atings/xtreme-set-100-crack-joint-filler.html .

Here's a link to a video showing how this stuff works:

Hi
You can fill the joints with either our Crack Repair Epoxy Putty, our Epoxy Mortar or use the 100% solids epoxy with sand. Make sure to use backer rod to support it so it doesnt sag. All of these products can be grinded and sanded since they harden.

My contraction cuts were saw cut. They are about an inch deep. So in my case I would just send them and put the epoxy right over the top?

I believe that when using a 100% solids epoxy, the sand is mixed into the epoxy and then troweled into the joints. Or there are epoxy fillers that get mixed and then troweled. As I mentioned earlier, I purchased Extreme Set 100 from Legacy Industrial. It's a polyurea, that gets mixed and then applied over the sand filled joints. Then more sand is sprinkled on top.

A 4" or 7" grinder works best to blend the fill/repair in with the surrounding concrete. A Diamabrush (if you were planning on using it) will not grind it down flush very well. An Edco machine will work fine on it as well.

won't the epoxy crack along those joints as the slabs move, if you fill them and epoxy over?

Looks like this... there is always the possibility. We use either a flexible (but hard ) epoxy gel or a polyurea mixed with sand. Polyurea is by nature very flexible but still hard.
