I have the normal HF cabinet blaster...the larger version, free standing on legs. I have it working well except for clogging the spray gun with paint flakes and chips blasted off of painted, rusted items. Large flakes of paint go up the intake and clog the nozzle.

I'm thinking I need a framed screen under the main grid that holds your article being blasted...maybe some thing
like window screen in a frame. Maybe a strainer over the pickup tube?

Never tried a screen over the pickup. When things get bad I usually put a 5 gallon bucket under the drain hole with a large dollar store cooking sifter over the bucket. Then I pull the plug on the bottom of the blast cabinet and shake the sifter to let the media go through the sifter. . Then I put the plug back in and put the media back in the cabinet.

I also use the same sifter to retrieve stuff soaking in the parts washer. Handy to have in the shop.

Here is the sifter for $1 at dollar tree. http://deals.dollartree.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=324699

The $1 stamped steel loaf pans and cookie sheets from dollar tree are also great for soaking stuff in the parts washer, and other odd jobs around the shop.

Water in your air line will also cause major clogs in your blast cabinet. Put a desiccant dryer on the air inlet on the blast cabinet and this will help a lot.

I empty it into a 5 gal bucket then sift thru a window screen into another 5 gal bucket. I use regular play sand BTW, it had to be screened before use as the grains aren't consistent and will plug the gun.

I did that for a while but those screens are ****.
I finally got the right tool for the right job. Works 10 times better and it sits right in the top of a 5 gallon bucket if you want to use it that way too.

Only $14 and I have had it over 10 years.

I'm getting my good out of this too..just ordered the screen, and a new gun while I was at it.

I use Dollar general muffin pans and square cake pans for misc..will be getting a hand sifter or two as well.

Thanks all...........
