Good morning,

I ordered 12 yards of sand to bed my water line. Got up to the place today and this is what I got.

Looks like quality material but it’s not what I would call sand. I’m wondering is anyone knows (or cares to speculate) whether this is a good fit for protecting HDPE?

I can use it on the road or somewhere and order again.

Thanks

"Sand" is relative to what materials are local and ground to such.
At civil design firms where I've worked, sand is a material classified by size. 5 grades from Very Fine to Very Coarse. That's how it's spec'd on plans.

I get that but when you go to the actual quarry, you're going to get "their" version of "sand". Not every quarry is going to have what you need.

Getting sand from the local National Lime & Stone is different than what Kirby's is going to have but if you want mason sand, you're going to have to go to the Olen Corporation, all local to me.

Around here, mason sand is what you want to mix your own concrete or to put in your kids sand box. It packs and you can build cool stuff in the sand box.

Cats don't care what you buy, it's all a litter box to them.
