Hi all

I've read the HF upgrade guides and applied them to by sandblast cabinet but I can't get it working. It might fire media for a few seconds an then stops.

Setup:
- large compressors (3 phase 200L tank)
- Eastwood foot pedal and gun with 6mm nozzle
- air mixer on the hopper
- garnet media

Tonight I disconnected the hose for the media where it attaches to the hopper and it was actually blowing air, not suction. This seems very wrong. I've spent a lot of time adjusting the air inlet on the mixer and and regulator pressure but it just won't work at all.

I'm sure I missing something simple but i don't know what that is.

How do I go about trouble shooting and setting this up properly?

(in the last photo the media tube is disconnected from the air mixer - this was part of the trouble shooting where I found it was blowing not sucking air).

I have a smaller cabinet with a lift up lid and use a cheap gun with the air "trigger" and the media pick up is a rubber hose dropped through the mesh platform, I leave the hose loose and very shallow in the grit so I can move it around WHEN it plugs up.
I'm not familiar with the gun or air mixer you are using so can't comment on them.
I would think you have media plugging issues at the mixer as the column of media will just sit and stay at the elbow with nothing to agitate it. My system needs free air flow around the media to draw it up the hose.
Having pressure from to gun to the mixer suggests blockage or restriction in the gun.
Does the rig pick up media when the pick up hose is directly in the sand? Is your media perfectly dry? If you block the nozzle outlet of the gun and open the air supply do you get a fountain of sand puff up from the air mixer?
Just offering trouble shooting points.

Solved.

There was a very small washer that was sucked into the gun. Small enough to get through the hose but not small enough to get through the nozzle. It was perfectly concentrically seated against the nozzle so when I saw it I assumed to was part of the assembly. Removed it and viola.
