I do a bit of sandblasting on some old muscle cars that I fool with. I see that Eastwood is selling a conversion kit that converts a sandblaster to a soda blaster. The cost is $129. I wondred if any of you folks had tried this conversion from sand (or 'black beauty') to soda bicarbonate. Any thoughts on this? Thanks,
Mike

Would you be satisfied if I just told you to switch media to corncob, or walnut shell instead?

Soda is a friggin nightmare unless you are doing it in volumes of over 1000# a day.

Soda is a nightmare because it is damn near completely different from what you'll experience with sand, AO, corncob, walnut shell, and plastic and glass beeds.
It ain't the baking soda you buy in the orange box at the supermarket, and soda converts to rock in the bag on a damp day just to make yor day go better, and the investment in post receiver air drying starts at about 10 Grand for a small machine capable of doing 1000 pounds a day.

Mike I have receipts for about 80 ton of media in my files over the last 20 years, and at least half was light weight media. I have plenty of experience with 600cfm Gardner Denver compressors and 1200 pound pots. Run on over to Armex's site and learn something or just piss your money across Eastwoods counter, I don't care which. I gave you a good answer, deal with it.

Just because you know it all doesn't mean you have to act like it.
