Hello there I'm a newbee here. I would like information on how to modify my pressure pot sand blaster to make it work better. Anyone have a schematic? Or parts list? Thanks.

1. Install a new tip, yours may be worn (Center hole)
2. Clean, very dry sand.
3. Make sure your air compressor is big enough to maintain constant pressure.
4. Drain your air compressor tank regularly.

I've done alot of sandblasting with an ALC 70lb pressure pot and numerous others. Best thing we ever did was run a 3/4" line from the compressor to the blaster. Also, remove the deadman valve, typically unless it is a high dollar (thousands) unit, the deadman makes more of a mess than it does help.

Also learn to regulate the sand with the valve that is on the outlet side of the Pot. When you get a sound that is nearly a whistle, you are ready to blast.

Remember, a nice "white" blast is the best way to prep metal for Paint/Powdercoat.

Every pressure pot I have used is normally a 2 man job. One doing the actual blasting while the other shakes, kicks, rattles the damned thing until it starts blasting right. I hate 'em and would rather use a grinder with a wire brush or 36 grit on it. IMO it is much faster and easier. My blast cabinet otoh is a different story and has made me think about getting a gravity/ suction feed blaster for really big jobs.

Check for the obvious. Mine was working fine and suddenly stopped. I figured that something had clogged the line. I removed the pipe from the bottom of the tank and no sand came out. I removed the sand from the pot and found that a mouse had fallen in at some time and couldn't get out. My pot was obviously clogged but not for an obvious reason. From that point on I always covered the top of the pot when it was not in use.

I like coal slag best. It's cheap and REALLY aggressive. I believe it's safer too if you happen to breathe a little in.

Any Questions?

Doing a search on this and haven't found much. Gonna start a thread but why are you so against sand besides it having silica in it? I always use a respirator no matter what kind of media I'm using but I have a pallet of sand I need to use up.

I saw somewhere where a guy mounted a cheapo palm sander to the outside of the tank with a bunch of hose clamps connected together. The point was to shake the tank so the sand inside would flow better.
