I'd like to hear any techniques or set-ups for helping the intake of sand into the siphon of a sandblaster. I often find myself blocking the outlet to blow air back to clear the intake. Thanks much, Tom, Mount Prospect, Illinois

I have two siphon feeds, one is a cabinet, and a pressure blaster. I usually have to clear the line every once in a while on every one of them. I use a lot of Black Diamond and Black Beauty (coal slag products) and these aren't as clean as silica sand. There is always something getting cross-wise in the inlet or outlet.
With the pressure blaster I have to run the smallest size available just to keep the nozzle from plugging up.

You probably need more air bleed on the suction side or a bigger air jet in the gun. It's very common to have suction set-ups clog.

If you have the double metal tube going into the sand for your pickup maybe increase the size of the one not connected to your gun. It supplies replacement air to the pickup point and will make it flow better.
