There are many types of media, I just use glass beads on everything. I do want to try the black magic stuff or silicon carbide for some projects but its too much work to empty out the cabinet, yeah I know there is a trap door and it all comes out QUICKLY but I just stay with old faithful, glass beads, they were quite well on everything.

For some projects large leaf springs which took forever, a faster cutting media would be nice. But you can't use some of the more agressive media on small aluminium casting like carburator parts. TP tools and Eastwood both have good charts to explain the different ones.

You can spend a couple of hours on this site:

for those of you in Kalamazoo MI -- yes: this guy will let you use his equipment to balst your stuff. What a deal!

He also sells the media and ships it. Might be more costly overall but I think you'll get exactly what you need to clean want ever part you have that needs cleaning.

Get a TPTools catalog and study it...lots of good information in there, everything form compressor specs, how to design piping, different types of blasting media available, nozzle types, etc.

Go to www.tptools.com, or call them, and request a catalog

School me on sandblasting too...how many times can I re-use the media? Do you throw away the sand after or is there another use for it?
