Sanding and Grinding Booth

I will be restoring several cars in my garage and I plan to build or buy a paint booth. But, before I can worry about that I need to do a lot of sanding and grinding which makes a huge mess. Has anyone built any type of sanding booth to control the mess? I'm curious how well something like the body shop curtains linked below would work?

I've also thought about building a booth using the plastic sheeting that is used on the walls of some bathroom. I could then put a filter wall on one end with a big blower to **** the dusty air through the filters.

Any thoughts or recommendations? If I was somewhere with better weather, I would just do it outside.

My work was always low volume custom work mostly completes and color changes. If I couldn't prep outside I did it in my spray booth and gave it a thorough cleaning before the final paint job.

Would just blow it out with my blow gun before shooting primer and would get a hose and scrub brush on the walls and floor before final paint.

Using the booth is an option I hadn't considered. This would allow me to spend more money on the booth. Perhaps I could find some ways to customize it for both purposes. But, I worry I wouldn't be able to get in appropriately clean enough.

Building a dual purpose booth is a great idea, saves space and money. I'd drape the walls with a suitable plastic sheeting that you can spray down with water between different jobs and replace the sheeting as needed. You could even go so far as having a plastic curtain for grinding and one for spraying that you slide out when doing a particular type of job, using separate curtain rods.

Body work makes a mess. You will never get the booth clean enough. I used my garage for both body work then painting, cleaned it for days and there was still dirt. When you paint, the gun will spray at odd angles and somehow dislodge dirt. It might work if you have metal walls and wash them and the ceiling (including lights) before painting.

Curtains are good, but not a perfect dust containment system.

You need a system where they can be slid to one side and tied back, like in a hospital room.
