Hey guys, I often have sanding belts come apart on me and I am looking for a reliable way to repair them. I read somewhere that 3M does not sell their belt binding tape to the public, so what are some good alternatives that will not turn loose as soon as the belt heats up a bit? I have seen some vids, but do not have much faith in most methods I have seen. Thanks for the help.

Mostly I use the handheld belt sanders, not the large knife makers grinders. I assume though that what will work with the small belts will work for the large belts too.

Repair seems unlikely, if you are melting the taped joint then its the tool, method, or cheap belts.

Change one or all three till you get better results.

yes, I tend to use to much pressure and get them to hot. I am working on changing my methods.

the 3x21 dewalt sander does seem to break more belts than my other though. I am not crazy about it
