Hi All,

I keep my trash bins inside the garage unfortunately this morning I came out to maggots all around the trash bins and garage floor.

What can I use to sanitize/ disinfect the polyurea coating without messing up the clear coat?

I bought ZEP neutral PH Floor cleaner but it doesn’t sanitize/ disinfect.

Thank you

Most common cleaners and sanitizers won't affect protective topcoats (stay away from bleaches). Test your choice in a corner just to make sure.

simple green disinfectant concentrate is what we use in the barns at fair to clean pens and stalls. It was approved by the vet checking things out.

As for the maggots;
When your trash can is brimming with food waste, particularly meat, maggots thrive in it. This is more so in warm weather as the heat worsens the odor, luring flies and maggots. Yes, maggots are the eggs laid by the flies that buzz around the trash. Rotting food attracts flies like a magnet.

Clean out the can also and then put up some fly traps. Get a trash can with a sealed lid. Maggots are one of natures ways of getting rid of dead animal carcasses.

My dog kennel floor top coat is polyurethane and to disinfect I use either phenyle or pine o’cleen. Hasn’t harmed the coating at all.
