Per GF recommendation I bought a used 2045 air hammer from ebay. I noticed, it won't start hammering when I pull the trigger. If I hit it just right it will start, and then work for a while, then it's back to doing nothing.. You just hear air..
Is it bad?

Shouldnt be to hard to fix. I think my dads did that. Part that fixed it was only a few dollars, but I dont remember what it was.

Most people seem to refernce the internal "disks" break after awhile, I believe they are called "flutter disks". They aren't expensive and you can buy them online here:

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/parts/pro_det.asp?Item_id=634349&group_id=678571

I would take it apart; clean all the parts and see if anything is broken that you can see (replace anything that is broken), many times, air tools just need to be cleaned... put back together and they work fine after that. You could fix it yourself or worst case scenario, ship it out to snapon for a rebuild (typically, 1/3 of the cost of new). You might also check out some air tool conditioner; Blaster 108-16-ATC: Air Tool Conditioner is one I have had good luck with (got mine @ NAPA). Good luck! :)

Is the air hammer pressed up against something? You need pressure on it before it will start hammering usually.
